Do you have a set cirriculum?
I feel like we go week by week and it drives me nuts? I also hate that if we do have a cirriculum its so vague. Do you have to find your own materials like stories and teaching points etc etc?

I teach 7th so not far off. We kind of have a set curriculum - every month there are things we're expected to go over. We used to do America's Choice but we've moved away from that. My coach doesn't really make us follow each month's plan to a T - she knows it takes longer for some groups and not as long for others.
Yes, we do have to find our own materials - like they'll say September grammar parts of speech and we'll have to find our own materials to teach it.
Hope this helps!

I have taught 6th grade in the past..
We are given a calendar of what we must cover each day. How we cover it is up to us- but we must hit specific goals in the lessons for the day.
We are given some helpful resources at the beginning of each unit, though I often had to look elsewhere since my kids were on such a low level that the stuff I was given wasn't always helpful

I taught 6th grade for 7 years....last year we created a UBD curriculum guide with topics to cover each month. We basically covered it through various novels. We were really left on our own to cover the material.

I have taught 6th a few times.
Total fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants. No curriculum at all. To be honest, I wouldn't mind so much if I had time to develop something good because I have the flexibility to do what I want. I choose novels I like and that the kids will like. Next year I will have 7th, and again, no curriculum but I got an early jump on planning at least.
