Any BTDT moms have any tips to induce labor naturally?
I'm full term but not at my due date yet. My OB would prefer I go into labor before my due date because otherwise I will be having a BIG baby I've heard the old wives tales - walking, spicy foods, etc. Any of them actually work for any of you? TIA!

Are you still three weeks early? I think it may be a little early to try any of the methods , but I've heard cleaning (scrubbing floors), sex, spicy food. That said, none worked with my first, and hasn't worked yet with my second (14 days to go).
ETA: They can be very off about the weight, if that is what the OB is concerned about--they said my DS #1 would be over 9 lbs, but he was 8 lbs, 6 oz (my water had broken without me knowing, so he had no fluid weight, and gained in the hospital when most babies lose).

Re: Any BTDT moms have any tips to induce labor naturally?
Sitting on a yoga ball and doing a hula hoop motion 10 times one direction then 10 times in the other direction, then bouncing for 2 minutes very lightly... I did that for 2 hours and went into labor the next day.
Of course, it was 2 days before my due date... so it could've been a coincidence. I found a youtube video on how to help the baby descend by bouncing on a yoga ball. It was very silly, but I wanted her OUT!! lol. Good luck!

On top of what's already been mentioned I've heard red raspberry leaf tea and pineapple. Sorry, no personal experience as this will be my first. Good luck!!!

Walk, walk, walk! Every step you take pounds the babys head farther into your pelvis, like a hammer. How's that for a visual? Lol. Its what my OB told me last time around. I made sure to walk a ton, like 1 hour a day towards the end. It helped :) I also did red raspberry leaf tea (found at any natural food store) and curb walking (youtube it). The tea though you have to build up in your system so its best to start it like week 35 or so.

Acupuncture. My water broke on the table and contractions started 10 minutes later I went specifically to induce labor.

I tried everything and nothing worked but the night before I went into labor I drank thyme tea. Now I was overdue so who knows if it triggered labor but my SIL swears by it. Good luck!

I heard that caster oil works wonders but it causes serious bathroom issues lol.

Re: Any BTDT moms have any tips to induce labor naturally?
I was overdue so maybe it was a coincidence but I ate some Zatarans Red Beans and Rice that night for dinner. It has a kick to it and I don't normally eat spicy foods. I think that is what did it.

I did this for DS#1 -- I was 10 days overdue and the midwives had scheduled my induction for the upcoming weekend.. they had stripped my membranes then I went home, had 2oz of castor oil followed by a cup of OJ. Within three hours I was "cleaned out" and within five hours I was in labor -- problem was the labor was very long (29hrs).
For DS#2, I was only a few days past my due date, they stripped my membranes but this didn't do anything. I had a blooming onion from Outback Steakhouse -- 4am I was in labor and then delivered DS before 9am.
For DS#3, I was already 3cm dilated at two days from my due date so they stripped my membranes, told me to go home and . I had one full day of minor contractions then ate some turkey enchiladas for dinner and then went into labor at 3am....DS was born by 8:30am.
GL!!

Where did you go and how far along were you?
for the rasberry leaf tea - any brand recommendations?
OP - I am full term as well and got a growth sono yesterday...measuring 90% percentile and I don't have GD
I have my next appt next tuesday when I'll be 38 weeks and I'll speak to my doc then...I really don't want to go past my due dat if the baby is so big already

Castor oil definitely does the trick...if you can stand it. My friend who had a home birth used this to induce contractions (given to her by her midwife).

I went to Dr. Li in Huntington, but he also has offices in Smithtown and Flushing. I went 2 days before my due date because DS was measuring really big and I read it can take 2 or 3 sessions to start labor. He arrived 16 hours later after my first session
ETA: his contact info is on his website (along with insurance info, all of my appointments are covered because he's an MD in China and a PhD here), mdacupuncture.net
