Any BTDT moms tell me the pros/cons of a vbac vs repeat c-section
Thanks!
I had an awful recovery with DD and would love to try a vbac this time, especially bc i will have my DD at home who will only be 19mths when i have this baby. I haven't had the discussion with my doc yet and I haven't done a ton of research yet just wanted to hear some of your experiences. I am now only 14 weeks so I have some time..

The recovery is just that much easier. For me it was. I know every case is different. I had a vbac with my DD and I was up and using the bathroom after having her, I felt great. I just had #3 earlier this year and developed pre-e and had to have him right away. I couldn't be induced because of my c/s with #1 and I was only 37 weeks and no where in labor, so I had to have another c/s. Then I remembered how difficult it was. And while it's true the second c/s is a little easier to recover from (my c/s were 8 years apart), it's still major surgery to your abdominal area and it does take take time to recover. Even though I was back home in 3-4 days, it still took a good two weeks before I felt healed and more capable to do things.
You have to do what your most comfortable with. I had my vbac nearly 7 years ago and it was pretty unheard of. More recently, many ladies have had successful ones. Good Luck!

Re: Any BTDT moms tell me the pros/cons of a vbac vs repeat c-section
i'm pg with #2 and have been doing a ton of research on this. I really want a VBAC because my c-section recovery was just awful, I was a little scared of uterine rupture as a complication of a VBAC but read up on all of it and found that you are more likely to die from complications during a regular c-section than you are a VBAC, that was all I needed to hear!
How's that for a doomsday analysis?

The big pro is a better recovery.
The huge con is uterine rupture with severe consequences for mother and child. Its a small risk... But pretty devastating if it happens.

This exactly!
You have to know the risks vs. benefits. In my personal situation, I was induced and the pitocin resulted in the baby's heart rate dropping. I had an emergency C but was 9 cm dilated. I had a GREAT c-section recovery, but still chose to do a VBAC because my risks were all very minimal. I also wanted to be able to function with DS at home who was just under 2 at the time.
Although I had a great recovery the first time, it couldn't beat my experience after the VBAC. I was out of the hospital in 24 hours. Couldn't wait to get out!
I was lucky to be able to do it and had a very positive experience. It really is a personal choice and depends on the circumstances.
