Do you belong to BJs? I rented a car when we went to FL for 8 days through BJs and with a coupon code and it came to $80.

Re: any good florida car rental deal?
If you go to the BJs website - go under travel and select car rentals.
Alamo usually has the best deals. You can either get $20 off, a free upgrade, or a free day. You also get a discount for being a BJs member.
If you are going to Orlando - you may want to check and see what Dollar has to offer as well (they are pretty reasonable).
You can also do this on the Costco site if you are a Costco member.

Re: any good florida car rental deal?
Check out mousesavers.com and disboards.com
Mousesavers will tell you how to mix and match codes - National and alamo have some of the better rates. I usually book with Alamo then switch to National when the better rates come out. You can mix and corporate codes with coupon codes. If you belong to AAA, BJs, Costco, Entertainment book etc all have discounts. But Mousesavers will actually tell you which corporate codes and coupons work best for the best deals. Both car companies are right at the airport no need to take a shuttle. They also have a free code to join the emerald club.
Disboards is a great site to check out for rates - people on there under transportation all the time post who they are using, which codes/promos they are using, the week they are going and the size car -this way you can see what others are paying to know if it is a good rate or not.
Usually the rates drop a LOT 30 days before - but then goes back up - and it is worth trying several times a week and at different time.
We went end of Sept/beg of Oct in 08 and originally they wanted about $400 for a mini van for both Alamo and National. About a month before I was able to get a good deal with Alamo for about $180 and then a few days later got a minivan with National - emerald select (where you just go to the row no waiting in lines) for $150 for 8.5 days. My parents got a emerald aisle for less than $90 for 8 days.

Re: any good florida car rental deal?
I used a code from Mousesavers and paid $10 a day through Alamo. Granted it was a compact, but that sucker used NO gas. I had to put $4.50 worth of gas before I returned it

Re: any good florida car rental deal?
I went nuts trying to find a good deal. I tried with coupon codes, through direct websites, Costco, Walmart, everything! I was finding over $400 for an SUV for the week, I wound up booking through hotwire for a ful size SUV $270 (that includes taxes and fees) for the week. After I booked I was informed the rental was trhough alamo, which is who we've always used, so I'm thrilled.

I got a great deal on a minivan through Hotwire.com. It was like $250 for 5 days and it was through National who's cars are right in the terminal.
