Any good "get your DC to sleep" books NOT about CIO??
Just wondering if any of you ladies have read any sleep books that are NOT all about CIO? I understand that on some level I will have to do some CIo but I can't just do it full blown. If so, could you please recommend them to me and let me know if you feel that they worked for you or not? Athan is 1 year old and he still has to fall asleep in our bed. Thank you!!!!!

The No Cry sleep solution was good, but too much of "attached parenting" for me.
I Love Secrets of the Baby Whisperer.
I never did full blown CIO or anything really to that effect. I never let my kids cry for more than 5 mins tops and that's when they've tested my patience and mommy needs a time out. We don't co sleep or rock to sleep either...
Good Luck!

I used Elizabeth Pantley's No Cry No Fuss Sleep Solution and Dr. Sears The Baby Sleep Book. You need to do what you are comfortable with. So if you are not comfortable with doing CIO - then don't feel that you are obligated to. Conversely if you are not comfortable with the "attached parenting" approach then these books might not work well for you. Hopefully after some research and trial and error you will find what works best for you and your DC. The above 2 books are good resources if you are looking for alternative suggestions to CIO. Good Luck with everything!

Am I REALLY late with trying to do this now? Do I have a chance? Are the books you mentioned geard towards younger babies? I have heard good things abou the No Cry No Fuss Sleep Solution book. Not sure what "attached parenting" approach is but I have a feeling that's what I am... and attached parent who can't let her baby cry to sleep and ouwld rather share a bed with him and rock him.

What is the basic technique behind the book if you don't mind me asking? Can I use it with a 1 years old or shoudl I have startedthis earlier? I have a feeling he is "set" in how we put him to sleep now, you know?

Yeah no ^%#(&$. I am, however, running out during lunch to buy the No Cry No Fuss Sleep Solution book and give it a try. Or just keep doing what we are doing... sfalls aleep in our bed, transition to crib, andthen after a few weeks try putting him down in crib when he is tired but awake and sitting with him soothing him till he falls asleep. And a lot!

I read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child and though it does promote CIO I adopted my own methods from the book and my own mothering instict. You don't have to follow things to the T for them to work.

I was going to recommend this book also, you can just ignore the CIO recommendations and use the rest. A lot of it is still helpful.
The No Cry Solution I did not find so useful personally, I think we had tried a lot of that already. But take a look at it, it may have something useful.

Maria if it makes you feel better DS is 2 1/2 and I lay with him everynight. I would love to as well find a way to get him to fall asleep on his own. I will not do CIO.

Well I just called my library and they have the No-Cry Sleep solution book on hold for me so I am on my way to pick it up. If that doesn't work I will read the other one that the ladies suggested - the Good Habits one. I will not do full blown CIO. I just personally can't. The thing is - he falls asleep... it just has to be in our BED! Not in the crib! ACK! I am sure it will take time and patience but I am willing to do it. CIO is not an option for us. I will let you know how it goes Jess!!!

Is this book OK if the child is 1 already? I let this go a little too long I guess
