Re: Any IBS sufferers out there?
Its weird bc only rarely will i have pain. Its just the pushing thta i have to go thru to get "it" out (sorry to be gross).
My dr wasnts to put me on Paxil bc like it helps calm the nerves, research shows it helps IBS sufferers bc it calms the intestine tracts.

I have a self diagnosis. I mentioned it to my GYN and he said it was very common and didnt think much of it. But the bloating and the pain sometimes is worse than labor pains. Yesterday i thought i was going to the hospital. I feel everyone's pain....
So, if this pain is worse than labor pains. Then I know I will be able to handle giving birth!
Sorry, it is really bad pain. Sometimes I don't know how I am standing up. I took "Librax" the doc gave me. It's for spasms in the colon. It worked.

Hmmmm...Really? I didn't think Paxil would help. But, it makes sense. Since, usually IBS is caused by stress and Paxil is supposed to help stress.
Doesn't paxil have bad side effects? I don't know I just heard that.

Re: Any IBS sufferers out there?
I took Zoloft for about 2 years and it worked great for me. It really helped level me out and I suffered much less. In the beginning I had a little nausea and was sleepy but after a few weeks, I was a ok!
I highly recommend it.

Re: Any IBS sufferers out there?
I have the opposite problem w/ IBS, so I am not sure if this will help. After suffering horribly with it for years I started having oatmeal w/ cinnamon in it (Quaker cinnamon roll...but I actually put in slightly more cinnamon). The fiber in the oatmeal will help regulate your system and cinnamon has been found to have anti-spasmotic qualities (along w/ a lot of other extra benefits). I had this every morning for years and found a reduction in the amount of attacks I had. I also stayed away from a lot of vegetables and fruits. I know that's horrible, but I realized my system just can't handle them: brocholli, bananas, dark greens, and most raw veggies. I also stay away from MSG and highly fatty foods. Again I have a different issue w/ IBS, but the worse thing about it is the PAIN. I used to actually shake from how intense the pain got. I used to take the meds that the doctor gave me, but did not have any luck with them. Changes in routine and increases in stress level can be making it worse. I would say try the oatmeal idea. They come in travel packs now. You would just have to add water and find a microwave.

I thought IBS was when you had diarrhea all the time, not constipation.....am I thinking of something else?
I have IBS-C (IBS w/ constitpation) there are both kinds. I think i would rather the other one
bite your tongue!!! The other (which is what I have) will consistantly give the sufferer pain! I have actually been in so much pain I have begged for death. All I can do is be in a fetal position. Think about what happens when you have the other problem. Colon is spasming...OUCHY!

Re: Any IBS sufferers out there?
FYI... I found out from my doctor here in Florida that Librax is HIGHLY addictive so be careful those who take it. He gave me a pill that you put under your tounge and it dissolves. Not sure what the name of it is though. A co-worker of mine is on Zelmorm and likes it.

Really? Oatmeal helped you. I think I'm going to try it.
