Any other Moms experience this?

I wanted to get some viewpoints on an issue I have since my second DS was born in April.

I was never an angry person and never had a temper. Now, I feel like I have a short fuse. I find myself getting furious over things, and it wells up inside me. It can be provoked by my 2 year old, my DH, a rude sales clerk, etc. I get very mad and it takes me a while to settle down.

I feel physical effects from it too, clenching my jaw and my heart racing. It is a horrible feeling.

I am not sure if it is hormones, maybe a form of PPD? I thought about asking for medication but others tell me it is just stress and can be remedied by exercise.

Anyone else experience anything similar? How did you cope? TIA!!Chat Icon

Yep! I was on medication and it helped tremendously but now that I weaned off (want to TTC) I notice the short fuse again and I hate it. Especially when I am short with my kiddos. Chat Icon
I'm going to try to do some kind of meditation/relaxation, maybe yoga. Something to help me feel less on edge.

for ME - that was one of the red flags that was pointed out to me regarding me 'not being myself'. i'm not as laid back as Dave is (he's the most laid back person in the world)....but in our time together, he has helped me 'chill'. After Em was born - i had ZERO fuse and it only got worse.... For me - it was ppd and i'm on meds....still.

it can't hurt to talk to your doc about it...and if he says it's stress.....then do something about it, but if he says ppd.....then maybe think about the different options of treatment...

Thank you for the responses.Chat Icon

I am glad that medication can help. I am not sure what to do. I definitely know that I need an outlet for my stress and I don't really have any. We moved OOS so I am far away from close friends and family. I am a SAHM and DH works long hours.

I think doing yoga or some other form of exercise would make a difference. Just doing something for myself would be nice. I will also speak to my doctor. Thanks again and glad I am not alone!
