BTDT Moms - Pneumonia in 3 year old...anyone experience this? Updated with question
UPDATE: DD is getting better, but Dr. said another week on nebulizer, it has a steriod in it too. Just wondering how long before you saw progress, we have family helping us watch her this week, but she will have to go to daycare next week, but that will be 6 days from now, hoping it goes away. Mommy guilt sucks!! She has already been home and resting for 5 days.
*******************************
DD was diagnosed with a touch on pneumonia - I am so worried, she is on nebulizer every 4 hours with 2 meds in it, one being a steriod also on antibitoics for ear infection - any one have experience with this - how long does it last - could it get worse, even though she is being treated - thanks all !
I am in panic mode
We went to dr. cause of fever 101 for 2 days , hefty cough and runny nose..
DD is

Re: Please help - BTDT Moms - Pneumonia in 3 year old...
My DS had pneumonia at 8 months old - it was some rare type that the ped at the ER didn't even see on the x-ray, only the radiologist did. His fever was 105 at the ER. Worst thing about pneumonia is there's no way to tell if it's bacterial (antibiotics help) or viral (they don't). It works itself out and basically you just have to keep them comfortable and hydrated, and watch the fever and breathing. We were prescribed meds but didn't give them (decided to wait a couple days to see if he improved and he did so it was viral). It's tough watching them be so miserable, but you should see improvement in a couple days. The ear infection must make your DD even more uncomfortable but the meds for that work pretty quickly, so she should start to feel better soon. Hang in there

Re: Please help - BTDT Moms - Pneumonia in 3 year old...
We dealt with this last year when DS was seven months old. Very scary diagnosis, but with the meds and nebulizer he was feeling better within 48 hours. Hang in there!!
Hope your LO is better very soon!

Re: BTDT Moms - Pneumonia in 3 year old...anyone experience this? Updated with question
I was just about to go FM you back from yesterday. I wouldn't worry about sending her to daycare next week, she'll be ok. We're keeping Ava home this whole week and she will go back to school next week. She's definitely better, but I listened to her chest tonight (I have a stethoscope, I have no idea why ), and I could still hear she is crackling in the chest. But no fever for 48 hours, her color is coming back, etc. I called the ped. to see if he wanted to see her, and he said no, to continue the antibiotics, keep her home and have her rest for the rest of the week and it should run its course. He said to worry if she starts gasping for air, which she's not, thank god. I'm just upset because she's not really coughing up any junk consistently. When she does, it's awful looking, but it's not often enough. Ugg. Hang in there
