Any recommendations for helping my cat stop this?

So, when DH and I were first married (almost 2 yrs ago) and DH moved in, my cat Pedro was mad and would try to "climb" our bedroom door. Prior to DH moving in, I slept w/ my door open, but we then started keeping it closed (DH H8s getting cat hair on his clothes).

It took some time to adjust, but Pedro eventually stopped the climbing attempts.

Until now, the past week or two Pedro has been back at it, but consistently around 5am. I always make sure Pedro has food and water before I goto bed, and I scoop the kitty litter everyday.

Are there any suggestions on how I can get Pedro to stop this? It's getting on DH's nerves and he has trouble getting back to sleep.

TIA!

DH did say "let's get rid of him" Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I HOPE he was joking! My response was "How about I get rid of you!"

Wow that’s tough

One of my guys still has moments of insanity and scratches our pantry door where the food is. We can’t stop him. We used the spray stuff (no scratch – I think) but I can’t honestly say it was a cure. We end up just opening the door for him (he can’t get to the food) and he just walks away.

I guess my house is a stupidly tolerant house, we sorta give in. That may change with the baby coming soon. We both agree no kitties in the baby room, period.

We don’t have issues with cat hair on our clothes, unless we leave clothes out, which is our opinion is fair game and we have no one to blame but ourselves!

Good Luck

Hope he was only kidding about getting rid of your kitty.

We had a problem of the cat jumping on the bed everyday between 4-5 am to press his nose to my face. It was waking me up and driving me crazy.

My DH started sleeping with his keys by the bed, and everytime Murphy would look at the bed - DH would jingle the keys and the cat would run out of the room. It worked, and he has been much better with his bed manners. He usually doesn't wake me up anymore.
