Any Tips on Administrating eye drops to my nine month old?
So DD has pink eye and a double ear infection. DH is away and I am finding it impossible to get those eye drops in her eye. Is it okay to place it on top of the lid? I don't know how I am going to do this. I don't want to man handle her

Not sure if it will work but this is what I do for myself because I hate eye drops. Tip her head back a little and put the drops in the corner of her eyes near her nose. Naturally she is going to want to blink right away and as she blinks the drops will fall into her eyes. Works for me but not sure if it will work for a baby but it's worth a try. Good luck!

I found putting a flashlight on the ceiling made him open his eyes wide and distract him long enough. I agree with putting it in the corner near the nose.

I had to put drops in DS eyes when he was born (tearduct issue) and I would do it while he was sleeping. It was the only way to make sure they got IN. Hope she feels better soon.

I agree with the corner of the eye trick. When DS had pink eye, he let us put the eye drops in the first time because he didn't know what to expect. Then after that, all he!l broke loose!
We would have to pin him down, hold his head still while he squeezed his eyes shut. I would drop the eye drops in the corners of his eyes and eventually he opened them and the stuff went in.
Not fun, but quite effective!

thanks girls! Last night was a challenge. I did put the drops in while she was sleeping. This morning she woke up before me, so I did it right before I changed her diaper on the changing table. I did kinda pinned her down with my forearm and place the drop with my right hand. Of course, she had her eyes tight shut but when she opened them...drop drop.

Use the changing table. It's much easier. I use to bring the little bottle from the forehead so he would not see it coming. And drop 1-2 drops at the corner of the eye by the nose.

Samantha had pink eye a few weeks ago. The ped told me that she IS going to close her eyes but as long as I get it in the well of the eye, or even on the egde of the lid it was fine since it would go in when she blinked. I hope she feels better soon!
