Did you let work know that you would not be coming back to work once the baby was born?

How did your company handle maternity leave?

I plan to be a SAHM once DC#2 is born in March. Not sure how to handle it with work.

This is my current situation.

I went back FT last summer after DD, but changed to PT 2 weeks later. We knew when DC #2 was born I would be a SAHM.

I am currently at the end of my maternity leave. After this week, I am using the remainder of my PTO. When I had the leave talk with my manager, I told her I was taking an extended leave (unpaid after all my paid time is used up), like I did with my DD and will return in February.

I did not let them know I wasn't coming back. I plan to call her in January and let her know of my plans.

When I went out in August, I also left my desk as is (meaning, I didn't take any of my personal stuff, pictures, etc....). I have to go back anyway at some point after I resign to turn in my Employee ID and laptop.

I wouldn't tell them anything ahead of time. Things can come up and plans might change. I knew I was going to take a major leave of absence when DS was born but I didn't bring anything up until after he was born that I would take longer than my FMLA.

I knew I was not going back and found myself on bed rest at 16 weeks pregnant. I felt very guilty but to have told them I was not going back would have messed up my STD payments. I did not tell my job until my disability was up.

I wouldnt say anything until the time comes.

I thought i was going back to work and was going to able to work from home some days. That didnt happen and they wanted me to work part time with a significant pay cut. The amount of work i would have to do to what i was going to be paid was not worth it. We decided it was best i just stay home with our DD instead of leaving her with a stranger and working to pay that person.
