Anybody have the following gas ranges?

I know this a long shot, but does anybody have any experience with the following ranges/brands?

AGA Legacy (44")

Capital Culinarian (48"...unless I can convince my DH to go for the 60" Chat Icon.)

Wolf and Thermador are also contenders.

How long have you had it for? How has cleaning the gas cooktop been? I've never owned/worked with gas before and I'm currently spoiled with induction. Chat Icon Did you go with the 6 burners or do a griddle/grille option? Self-clean? (Another fear of mine...manual clean ovens! Chat Icon Chat Icon )

Re: Anybody have the following gas ranges?

My ILs have had a Wolf for 10 years and they loved it, but did note that the oven interior rusted a bit. They don't know why but they think it may be because they had to use propane gas. Nevertheless, they just bought another Wolf for their new home.

We are shopping new appliances right now and I'm 90% sure we are going with the dual fuel Thermador 48" professional. Electric oven, gas cooktop. 6 burners and griddle. We have a little longer before we lock in our choice so I'm doing my research as well.

PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE buy the Capital. I have the same exact one you posted. Magnificent! Chat Icon It takes a bit to get use to the open burners but similar to having lets say, front load washing machines, you can never go back to regular ones.
I had the Wolf & did not love it.
If you FM me your cell # I'll send you pics.
Plus truthfully, for the price, I thought it was a bargain. Just a tip...I put the grill in the oven when I self clean & they come out totally clean.

Edited to add, I also got the wok attachment ( I think it was a $240 upgrade) & rotisserie.

Oh believe me...I've looked at them! Chat Icon But at 20K+, I don't know if they're worth it just for the aesthetics. I'm not a big cook (yet) and my primary form of cooking will be on a 30" induction cooktop, so it's hard for me to justify that purchase. But I do look at that kitchen porn daily!!! I have an AGA in my home and absolutely love it. Our other client favorites at KD are Wolf, Gaggenau, and Thermador. If you stop by Appliance world in Huntington and ask for Stuart, he is an expert and giving you the low down on all the brands. Tell him I sent you :)

We were at Appliance World a couple of weeks ago just taking a look around (I wanted to see the french door American Range and was inquiring about the Marvel Full Size 36" refrigerator and 36" freezer), but at the time I bypassed the La Cornue line thinking they were out of our budget, but the CornuFe isn't. I showed my husband the photos of the beautiful black kitchen you guys designed (which I absolutely love!!!!), along with the CornuFe, so we'll probably stop by again to check the range out.

Yeah, I've been researching ranges/ovens like a mad woman...and I must admit, it's overwhelming. Chat Icon Appliance World in Huntington carries the AR french door. It was cool, but I'm afraid I'll burn myself when I open it. Chat Icon I've read some disappointing reviews of the AR ovens, so I backed off of them.

We're still leaning towards Capital, but now it looks like my DH is digging the 60" Connoisseurian with the 24" griddle, 12" grille and 4 burners.

I would love a 60" anything..lol but I don't have the room for it.
I don't know if you have a 6 burner now or had in the past, but I did in our last house (we had a Viking from the previous HO and was good except the oven space SUCKED) and now we have a regular 5 Burner range (the 5 burner is a joke), but I really did use 5-6 burners when I had parties. Or 3-4 burner but had larger pots.

When my mother did her kitchen she did 2 single wall ovens under the counters. The way it was set up originally was 1 next to the cook top and then one on the other side by her baking stuff. It doesn't get utilized like that but, I do like the concept.
The double wall ovens are hard to take stuff in and out of on the top one. I know your tall though, so that actually may be easier for you. I am 5'5", so I really have to reach up.

Are you adding 2 dishwashers?

Yeah, we're sold on the 60" Capital Connoisseurian. Chat Icon We stopped by Appliance World yesterday to look at the ranges & oven sizes and we spoke with one of the salesmen (owner's son I believe) for quite a bit.

We were originally going to do a 48" range with a wall oven/microwave/warming draw combo on the wall, but this 60" range pretty much meets our needs. Chat Icon The 36" oven is perfect for my large turkeys/baking large quantities and the 24" is great for daily stuff.

And yes, we're doing 2 dishwashers (a must for when we entertain). We're doing 36" refrigerator/36" freezer, microwave draw, warming draw (full extension so it holds a pizza box Chat Icon ), ice maker, 24" dual tap kegarator, 2 - 24" beverage centers (dual zone)

and I think I've just convinced my DH to include a 15" induction cooktop. Chat Icon (I''ve been spoiled by my induction range and I don't want to give up the speed in which it boils water and how easy it is to cleanup things.)

My mom has the capital 48". It's fabulous. It's my favorite part if her house. That said, she has had them out THREE times to fix the temp With the oven. Also, the oven door is LOW. My mom is only 5' 1", it's a PITA to open and close. It's very close to the floor. I squat down if I'm moving stuff around in it. But it's still freaking amazing.

It's going to be a while before I have photos. We're doing an addition/reno, so construction won't begin until May or somewhere around then. The kitchen probably won't be completed until a year from now. Chat Icon

I've never used a wok before. Chat Icon I was watching videos on youtube by Eurostoves (they sell appliances up in MA and they're very active on GardenWeb.com) and the rotisserie looks fairly easy to use. Do you use it often? Their videos on the Culinarian are really helpful and are getting me psyched. Chat Icon

Eek. Does she have a gas oven or electric? I haven't seen the specific range we want in person...they're almost like a ghost. Chat Icon Appliance World did have a 36" Capital with a gas oven and I did notice the door does seem to be low, but the one thing that concerned me the most was the small size of the interior. Luckily the electric ovens are considerably larger. I'll have to pay attention to the door location again when we go back. Chat Icon

I watched the videos too & thats what sold me on it. Trevor is a great rep for the company. If you want, they fly you up to Boston for a free day of Demo & a cooking class. Also if you watch the show "Chopped" its the range they use. I've only used the Wok, not the rotisserie. The door is a tad low but its never bothered me.

Fly to Boston? It would take less time to drive there. Chat Icon I've been reading Trevor's info here and there on GardenWeb...I just hate that site's layout/format. Their search functions bite. Chat Icon

Sadly, the only time I watch Chopped is when I'm at the nail salon. LOL I'll have to pay attention to the ranges/cooktops next time. Chat Icon

I've never cooked on a gas range before. Chat Icon I kind of feel like I'm going backwards with technology considering we currently have an induction range. We were originally going to include a 30" induction cooktop in the island when were were doing the 48", but we've come to the conclusion that it will look silly with a 60" range and it will eat into a bit of my 6'x7' island, so the compromise is a 15" induction in the counter alongside the gas range. Chat Icon

We have to look into it, but we're not sure of the Connoisseurian comes with open burners with the configuration we want. Chat Icon BUT my DH is insisting that the 19,000 BTU sealed burners will be sufficient for us. I'm no gourmet chef, so I'm trying not to get too ridiculous about things. Chat Icon Chat Icon
