Re: Anyone buy Fish from Target?
I'm from upstate and after living on LI for 12+ years, I have to say I now try hard to only buy fish from a fish store or Costco....I save the grocery store fish for when I'm more land-locked, JMO!

Re: Anyone buy Fish from Target?
Why would you be scared?
FYI - most fish is frozen that is sold at grocery stores, costco, etc. It is frozen immediately after being caught/cleaned/etc. Most of the 'fresh' fish has just been defrosted. You need to look for a sign or something that says "never frozen".
I like the plain fish from TJ's - the vacuum sealed pouches keep it fresh. I did once buy a tilapia or something with seasoning and I didn't like the seasoning. I have found their plain fish to be very good quality.
EDITED: Sorry, misread and thought you meant Trader Joes. No, I have never bought from Target but would think it would be okay if it was frozen?

Only from the freezer like fish sticks and Gortons and such.
I've gotten sour milk from Target before so I am always afraid that stuff gets left out, then put back.
Also is it just me but do the dates on many of the Target "fresh meats" seem like they last a really long time?
They must be pumped with chemicals galore.

Re: Anyone buy Fish from Target?
For whatever reason I only buy fish from a fish market - than again we're not big fish eaters in my family, so I only go a few times a year.
I would never buy fish from Target after knowing the incidents I know: -I've gotten spoiled milk from there even though the exp date was nowhere near -My cousin bought ground beef and found maggots underneath it when she went to cook it -My mom opened a pacakge of chicken she bought and nearly threw up from the rancid smell.
I always walk by their produce/meat section

Funny you should ask this! DH JUST did this weekend, but only after I all but made him. He was wary at first, too, but he said it was REALLY good. I think it was some kind of salmon. I don't eat fish so I have noooooooo idea.

Re: Anyone buy Fish from Target?
Speaking of milk, theirs is always foul smelling to me. Tastes kind of off too. Every single time I buy it! So I don't anymore. The meat I do buy when I'm there on occassion, but I too wondered about the longgggg expiration dates!!
I don't think they will put things back after it's been out. If you get the register and don't want a perishable item, they have to toss it. Same goes for returning any food item. They throw it out.
