Anyone do or not do the 11-13 wk ultra screen??

HI
just wondering if there is anyone who did or did not do the ultrascreen at 11-13 wks where the folds of the neck are checked. i know i sound ignorant but i think that's what they check for....anyway i called too late to make my appt. and they can't do it. i know it's not a huge deal but i am SO mad at myself for waiting and now i am disappointed
i guess i am just wondering if there is anyone who also did not get this done and how important do you think it is?

I did get it done.

But I don't think that it is a mandatory test. I would call your doctor to tell her what is going on though, so that you don't have to wait til your next appointment to tell her.

i actually did not get it done. i'm pretty sure everything they would have checked then was checked at the 20 week sono.

I opted not to get it done. I am 33 years old & 13w.

It is not necessary as it is a fairly new test. There are other screenings that they do to test for Down's Syndrome, etc.
I was happy to get to see the baby.

I'm having mine done tomorrow. My doctor said it's not necessary, but I want to do it.

I didn't have it for my first (I did have the AFP though)

I'm doing it for this one, but my OB doesn't tell the results until she can compare them with the level II

I did not have this done. I elected to skip this and do the AFP test at 16 weeks. I went for my level II at 17 weeks and they checked everything with the baby

I had mine done at 12w4d and while it was great to see the baby, I didn't get much from it yet. I think my doctor will go over everything once the second set of bloodwork results are in...in the meanwhile I was told that the risk is very low. That also factored in family history and my age. So....after that long winded story....it's not a guaranteed answer. Therefore don't worry too much about not having it done. If you are concerned about it you can talk to your doctor about other options.

i have a 2 year old and a 4 year old and that test wasnt even around when i was pregnant. so i wouldnt be too worried about missing it. they will check all those things for you during your level II sonogram.

I got it done.. Its not a mandatory test.. just more for your peace of mind.. even though its not 100%.

I didnt get it done - I would have liked to see the baby again, but the doctor said it's not necessary, so I didnt do it.

My doctor didn't offer this.... I did the AFP testing at 18 weeks.

I never got it done...I had the AFP and the Level II sono done at 16w and 18w and everything was PERFECT!

I just had it done today... but as other girls told you this is a screening test so you are not getting a 100% answer, your test results are your chances of having a baby with down's syndrom are 1:..... whatever the computer estimates based on measurements and bloodwork... I wouldnt worry about it too much..

I didn't get it done with DD, and will not get it done again with this pg.

I would rather not cause myself worry since these test results of this test and the AFP can be off and cause unessary worry for me.
