Re: Anyone else friggin tired of being poor?
Add Me to the list. I feel like everything is a struggle. I actually wanted to cry the other day while doing groceries. I spent so much and brought home almost nothing.

Add me to the list as well. We can't find room to put money into savings. We want a house and kids, but it's not going to happen soon. I need to have major surgery, but I'm scared we won't be able to make the rent without my paycheck for a couple of weeks. The economy is so scary.

Re: Anyone else friggin tired of being poor?
ok ladies, I know you're going to think I'm nuts but you've got to learn about the law of attraction. By hating being poor you atract more feelings of being poor. I know it sounds stupid, gimicky, whatever but I turned a few of my friends that were struggling finacially on to this & its working for them Try reading "the secret" or James Ray's new book "harmonic wealth" You've got to know & believe that your circumstance is temporary, it does not define your life. Try it, it works!!!!!

Re: Anyone else friggin tired of being poor?
Here-here! I'm so money paranoid some days, the anxiety consumes me. I'm always scrambling for a "deal" at the stores and thinking ahead to how to come up with extra cash. The entire economic situation our country is in has me really-really scared.

I say the same thing, we're not "livinig in the lap of luxury" by any means, we both have decent jobs, and yet I feel like we're constantly struggling. And just when I think "We'll be ok", something else comes up.
AMEN to that! When we had our taxes done I realized we made some "ok" money, but don't ask me where the heck any of it is!???
US too.. I was shocked when I saw how much we made.. We have NADA to show for it!!! except for bills piling up! Crazy!

I know, I know. DH and I do tell each other how lucky we really are. I mean, we have running water, heat, music, food, clothing, a roof over our head, etc. I just can't figure out why working couples are struggling.

Re: Anyone else friggin tired of being poor?
I'm so glad you posted this. Not that I'm happy that there are so many of us feeling this way but I'm glad I'm not alone. We moved back to NY from St. Louis and I don't know if it was a mistake to come back here. All of our family is here but it's just so expensive and we are struggling and fighting all the time it seems. Like a PP said, it's like everytime I think we will be fine and catch up and have money to save, something else comes up like the price of oil or gas! What I budgeted for when we were deciding to move back here is nothing close to what we are spending. Everything has just gotten so expensive.
Is it better in other states??? It was definatley better for us in St. Louis. Before DH got laid off, he was making the same salary he makes in NY. I'm always tempted to tell him to put in for a transfer but I don't know if it will be better.

IMO, there is a huge difference between St. Louis and NYC. I just came back from Scottsdale where a 3 bedroom house with an inground pool costs 250,000...but it's in Scottsdale. I'm willing to pay more to live in the city (well, Brooklyn...)The only other place i would consider moving would be San Francisco (also expensive). I think we make sacrifices for choosing to live in NY. If we moved upstate or to Maine or a small town in Oregon, we would have much fewer expenses.

Scottsdale is actually an awesome city. I went to school at ASU-Tempe is a cool villagey area like Huntington. Phoenix is a mid sized city with culture, sports etc. Scottsdale and Tempe have AWESOME restaurants. It is VERY HOT especially in the summer but you DO get used to it. Geographically you can't beat the location. 5 hrs from Vegas, LA and 2-3 hrs from the Mexican border. It is a very family friendly area and filled with rich Native American history.

I would never call Scottsdale awesome. I actually met people there from San Francisco (job transfer) and they were miserable. DH and I (the New Yorkers we are) decided to take a walk and a few minutes later looked at eachother in amazement. Not only was it oppressively hot--in APRIL, but there was NOBODY else out--except in their air conditioned cars going to the gigantic Wal-Mart. The restaurants we went to were pretty good, but not worth moving there for. The Native American culture is rich--I agree, but once again, wouldn't move there because of it,nor does the proximity to California, Mexico or Vegas (another depressing city) make me feel any better about it. I can get on a plane if I want to go to Mexico or LA, which are pretty low on my list of "need to see" destinations. I think there are tons of cities that beat that location geographically.

Same here.
This is what happens to us. Just when we think we're getting out from under the debt, something else comes up.
I wouldn't say we're poor, but we certainly have to live very conservatively and it's frustrating.
same w/the debt - we get close to pay down then something happens and we need to pay up. argh. fortunately our tax refund cut a nice chunk of it down. can't wait for my other IRS check though!

It sounds like you are describing my life. It frustrates me so much. and me where the hell is the money going? Everything has gone up so much it's driving everyone crazy including us. But I am grateful for what we have , could be worse.
