Anyone else TERRIFIED
of giving birth? 
I'm not pregnant- not even really TTC yet- just starting to consider it.
But everytime I think about the actual birthing process- i get nauseated! I read the Birth Stories and the tales of epesiotomy, tearing, gushing, etc. . .really get to me.
I know it can't be THAT bad- cause people do it over and over again, but it still scares me.

my best friend is due june 7th and is PETRIFIED. you are not alone. it's all she can think about....
i wish i could give advice on how to relax....she just keeps telling herself that women have been giving birth FOREVER...

I used to be but not anymore. I'm sure I'll change my tune when it's actually happening, but right now, I've been through so much trying to get pregnant, that nothing really phases me anymore.

I'm not even thinking about that yet. Right now, the focus is on getting pregnant.
We'll cross the birthing bridge when we get to it!

I am terrified of the epidural more than anything. Everyone tells me I will welcome it, but the feeling of not feeling my legs, etc...terrfies me.

Not for anything..but this is one of the reasons why we put off ttc. I would just hear these horror stories of intense labor pains and birth nightmares - that I would tell DH .."just 1 more month and we'll start trying" 2 years later..here I am..haha. But then i think of the great stories..the 1-2-3 births and convince myself that could be me. There are also things you can do for a smooth birth (ie, yoga, meditation techniques) these things can't hurt..so at least if anything, you learn to feel better..right?
They say it's ALL worth it..so we'll see!
   in the meantime!

Me too!!!!! I hate needles, and the thought of it going into my spine!

I know this sounds terrible but I am more afraid of the pregnancy. I am scared of gaining weight and my body irreversibly changing

I am terrified! I'm scared of everything related to giving birth - nausea, weight gain, stretch marks, BIRTH, after birth, how it will affect my career...the list goes on and on.

I know our bodies were made for this kind of thing-- but, the whole concept is difficult for me to wrap my head around.

I was terrified!! Before I was pregnant with DS I was so afraid of it. Then at some point during my pregnancy things changed and I wasn't so scared -- I think it was when I started to feel him move and just wanted to meet him!
Then I was in labor and I was terrified again!!! I kept telling DH I could not do it.
But in the end it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated.

I'm totally terrified....I'm nervous about the actual pregnancy too, the birth, having a child...but like it was said ... women have been doing it for ages...I hope I can handle all of it when the time comes!

I don't think so --- I am worried about complications that could happen during pregnancy or of m/c but I think labor shouldn't be too bad -- mamas do it everyday

I was soooo terrified when I was pregnant with DD. It was like I kept telling myself I dont want her to come out but I want to meet her! The day they told me I was going to get induced I cried my eyes out I was soooo scared of giving birth but it really wasnt bad. I think if I had a real bad experience I wouldnt want to do it again. But when you see the baby right after he/she comes out of you its the BEST feeling in the world that that child is yours and shes here b/c of you and DH of course

I'm scared of being scared. I'm afraid I'm going to have a panic attack when I go into labor and that will just mess with everything else like breathing, blood pressure, etc
