Anyone else's 3 1/2 week old not nap well?

Im glad that he is starting to distinguish day from night....but today he napped for maybe 3 hours tops.

He was wide awake, even after a car ride.

3 hours total through the day?

mine sleeps-

wakes for diaper/feeding every 3 hours-

and is awake for some time in the morning, and a little in the afternoon.

My son has never done much more than catnap...even as a newborn. He's just about 6 months now and still doesn't really nap

We are just at 3 1/2 weeks and I felt like today was our first really good day. He woke up ate had an hour of awake time and then napped for 2 hours and then repeated the same cycle 2 more times.
Up until today I felt like he was fighting to stay awake all the time which was making him very fussy and he would never let me put him down. Today though he napped in the swing and his little lamb seat. I think the key was him staying awake for a bit after he nursed.

I used to joke that DS slept nearly 24 hours a day until 4 weeks old and then we woke up....

I can remember days were he woudl literally sleep a hour the whole day! It was killing me.

It last just a week or 2 and then he got adjusted adn started taking more regular naps.

Keep a "journal" to keep track of his habits...I learned that DS got tired around the same time so I started making a schedule around his habits and it worked out great.

ETA: DS is the same in the car he RARELY sleeps. We have taken multiple 6-7 hour car trips iwth family, all the other kids sleep for 2+ hours....DS never sleeps more than an hour, one leg of a trip he was up the whole time and he was only 7 months old! Now at 16 months he will fall asleep but only if its his regular nap time.

That was me and at 6 months he still doesn't nap. It's a wonderful life.
