Anyone elses 8 month old still nap 3 times a day?
Is this normal??? DS still gets very cranky of 2 hours of awake time. I thought by now he would be able to deal with being up for longer periods of time.

Yup. He is trying so hard to skip his later afternoon nap but, honestly he is sooo cranky still. It is such a struggle to get him down for that nap. He pitches a fit and screams for like 30 minutes while I rock and pat him before he gives in. I hope he either stops fighting it or stops needing it soon.

My DS took 3 until 9mths (which is common) He did 11, 2, and 530). I dropped the 5:30 around 9mths..took a few days. Then dropped the 2nd nap at 17mth, dropping 11 and making nap time 130

My 9 1/2 month old takes two good naps during the day and one shorter nap. One in the morning (from about 9:30-11) and late afternoon (5-6). If we are home during the day, she will go down for another nap around 1:30-2, and she won't fight me on it. If we are out and about running errands, she'll nod off in the car - so technically, she's still on three naps. She is up for about 2 - 2 1/2 hours before going down for another nap.

Wow, 5!! Riley does 3, sometimes 4. I almost find it abnormal how she's ready for a nap after an hour of awake time...I thought by now it would be extended!!
I'm guessing he's taking catnaps, right? That must be the reason...Riley at least gets one good nap in, over an hour & a half. The others are usually shorter.

Exactly, all catnaps. None are an hour or more. Most are 30-45 mins. I'd love to extend them, but I don't know how.

How long is his awake time?
Can you go in there and help him go back to sleep at all? It's rare when that works for Riley...if she wakes up too early I let her stay in there a while and see if she falls back asleep.

DD is 7+ months and takes AT LEAST 3 naps a day. Sometimes it's 4 depending on the length of the naps.

WOW, what am I doing wrong? Juliana takes one nap a day. 10:30-12:30. That's it. I thought I was doing so great, since my other 2 kids never napped at all, beyond a catnap here ot there.
Here I was thinking I was so lucky that my DD still took a nap at almost 8 months!

Ryan did take 3 naps until daycare forced him to take 1 there LOL (so about until 13 months) and at 21 months still (occasionally) takes 2 naps. But he had a long day and I sort of tailored it that way so I could see him (since I commute to NYC and have a long work day).
At that age, he was up about 7/7:30AM. Nap at 9:30AM for 1-1.5 hrs. Another one around 2PM for an hour or so, and then again for an hour at 5PM or so.
Now, he does a 2 hour nap (if I'm lucky) at 12/12:30PM and then another 45-mins-an hour at 5PM.
Bedtime is 8:30PM.
Sometimes he doesn't take his 2nd nap, but he'll have "down time" in his crib/plays with his animals, etc.
