Anyone ever have Mono?

I have a Really bad sore throat. They put me on 2 different antibotic.They tested for strep cause they didn't know what I had.Not Strep so now they say Mono. I still have it. How long Till it goes away? Now I'm resting and taking it easy. Thanx

I felt like crap for weeks. Finally after about a week and a half I was able to do things around the house. I was miserable..that was the second time.

the first was when I was little..I remember it though, I was 4 and I felt so crappy that I was lying across some chairs in the waiting room because I couldn't sit up.

I had it. The first clue was swollen glands. I did not seem to have a severe case of it, but I was never again as energetic as before I had it. I have chronic Epstein Barre virus stemming from it.

had a blood test for it though. Was sick for about 8-10 weeks back in hsgh school.

Fever, tired and sore throat and some back aches.

When I had it I was extremely tired for a few weeks. When DH had it his only real symptom was a terrible sore throat and it lasted for about 5-7 days. He was perfectly fine after that.

i have had it in the past and only know this bc I recently took a blood test that shows that Ive had it....
my dr said not to worry-
85% of the population has had mono at some time in their life, usually in their late teens-early 20's.

i had it twice and i had the sev. sore throat and high fever for 10 days. I was tested for mono and it was postive. Are they testing you? Also if you take meds then it will make you throat worst.

I have gone 2 times already.Thats what happened the zithomax and clindamycin. Made my throat worst.
No she never gave me a blood test.
My neck swelled up -- lympth notes are painful, I'm tried and I have been sick for a month now. (she said Mono)
I think I want a different Doctor.

I had mono. i would say my REALLY ACUTE symptoms lasted about 5 weeks. I was out of work for 5 weeks. And then when I returned I went back part time for 2 months b/c I still felt horrible. I had full blown mono- sore throat, aches, swollen lymph nodes, stiff neck, High fever for 5 days and then low grade for 3 weeks) swollen eyes, elevated liver function, enlarged liver and enlarged spleen. My doctor wouldnt let me drive for 1 month. I was really sick. It took about 3 months for my EBV to convert from the acute stage to recent (I am still not converted to Past infection). It was horrible and to this day (4 months later) I am still not myself. I get VERY tired and I was never one to get tired at all! It is horrible!!!
