Anyone familiar with the light at Straight Path/Dixon and Sunrise Highway? Red Light Camera
I was coming home from my friend's house late last night and knew there was a red light camera there (I was headed North on Dixon, wanting to turn right onto Sunrise Highway. The only sign I saw was one that said right lane must turn. I stopped before the line, counted to three and made my right turn. While I was turning the camera flashed. Am I getting a ticket or do they always do this, reviewed and then discarded (because I turned legally)?

I know that my SIL got a ticket while making a right there because she said that she didn't stop before she turned. But if you stopped I think you should be okay. Did you have your blinker on? If so and you weren't on the phone I don't see how you could get in trouble, there is no no turn on red sign there.

the 3 second thing is crazy because the sensor is looking for a full stop and then some.
If I know there is a camera at the intersection, i will wait the 60 to 90 seconds to turn when the light changes. I don't trust it.

The light flashes all the time. It's a "pre-emptive" picture. They take a pic when you approach the line, in all lanes. As long as you make a complete stop, you're OK.

I'm not sure how it works, but I live in that neighborhood & that damn light flashes ALL THE TIME so I think it probably takes a pic of everyone that approaches.
On a side note, it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't distract people that are on Sunrise. The first few times I drove past that intersection while on Sunrise the light startled me!

I was going to say the same thing. I work on Dixon Ave and am over there ALL the time and I ALWAYS see that stupid light flashing...I look around constantly wondering why it flashed, lol.

As long as you stopped fully- for the full 3 seconds- you will be fine. They have video of your stop too. So if you were to get a ticket in the mail, you coudl view the video online and fight it if need be.

Yep the RULE (and I say RULE because it is not a LAW) is 3 full seconds of a full stop...then turn on red.
DH is a cop- he has never heard of such a thing. He said the LAW is full stop on red then go if safe- there is nothing in the law stating how LONG you have to stop. The rule was made up by the companies who run these cameras. It's ridiculous.
