They blink like crazy...most do anyway. The ones I have come across do.

I live in NC and they have them everywhere here. They reallly do stop people from running red lights. Your tires need to be over the line by the time the light turns red so you can still go through yellow.

They will only flash if you go through it. It works with a sensor, flashing when your tires go over the intersection when the light turns red.
Unfortunately there are so many around where I live.

A traffic light sign with another sign that says "PHOTO ENFORCED" is usually near or at the intersection.

ha! i thought i saw them putting them up at Marshall/Paula & 25 in selden. I used to live over there & this intersection is VERY dangerous, so i can see why they need one.
25 & 83: that is going to be a pain in the @$$! the light is so out of sync with the light at wendys/police station. it is nearly impossible to turn left from the north bound 83 onto 25 without getting stuck in intersection...

Yeah, I think I got nailed on Johnson ave and sunrise. I didn't know it was no turn on red. I saw a flash but had stopped. I'm going to be pissssed if I get a ticket.

Not necessarily. Some traffic lights have a white light that flickers in the lens to alert drivers that there is a traffic light located there. Sometimes you'll go on a long stretch of road and drivers get used to no traffic lights. The flicker draws your attention to the lights.

Why? How hard it is to STOP at the STOP light? I think it's ridiculous that people complain about this. It's basic driver's ed. You stop on a red light. If people are not stopping then it serves them right to be fined.

nicolas and 347 is TOTALLY working
and in construction now is 347 and Stony brook rd the cement boxes are already in place. I had a thread about this a week or 2 ago

most do not have this including the ones in nassau
you should look for 2 seperate white pols on the right side of the road a bit back from the stop light
one will have a flash device the other a video camera, just like the traffic camera's. also at night as soon as the light is red, you will sometimes see 2 flashes

I don't think it's functional yet, but I just saw new posts with cameras and other items on it at the intersection of Rte 109 and New Hwy (as soon as you get off of the Southern State Pkwy at 109)

Typically I would agree...how hard is it to stop at a red light. Seems simple, but how many times do you reach the "point of no return" and the light begins to turn? Some of these intersections have very short yellow lights and it's very easy to get busted. DH got busted once and the ticket said the light had been red for .2 seconds or something like that. How many times have I even been reaching an intersection (sometimes with DS in the car) and the light turns yellow and the guy behind ME is up my butt with no intention of stopping? I'm so worried about these cameras that I am stopping short more often, praying the guy behind me will actually stop too.

My dh got 3 tickets by his job and you can make a right on red but they wouldn't let us fight it  just make sure you don't make a right on red even if there are no signs

Since moving to Nassau I know where the cameras are on my way to the train.
So I NEVER even attempt to go through when yellow, I will stop short if I have to.
I am now VERY aware of intersections and red light cameras.
