anyone get a cold sore?
This is my second tiny one since getting pregnant.
my body usually gets them when I am under stress, so it is no wonder, but what can I do for them?
It's right in the crease of my mouth, so you barely see it, but it's uncomfortable.

There is nothing you can do? The OTC stuff seems to have risks. I am just putting blistex on it now, but I want a quick recovery.

Re: anyone get a cold sore?
yeah I have rx creams, but I remember my dr explicitly asking if I was planning to get pregnant because they can't be used. So now I am leary to use them.

Re: anyone get a cold sore?
Ask your Dr for some acyclovir cream (zovirax) I get wicked cold sores (touch wood I haven't had one in a while) but I asked my Dr. and he said it was fine.

Re: anyone get a cold sore?
In the meantime why not try Blisteze? It's not the same but it might give you a little relief

never heard of it. I am just putting blistex on it now, and it soothes it. I'm just glad it's on the crease and not completely noticeable. I HATE THEM!

Re: anyone get a cold sore?
it stinks when being pregnant because you can't take anything really tha would heal it so much faster. but if you dab a little riubbing alcohol on it with a qtip it will dry out quick and go away!
Also i read, when ypu feel it coming on take an ice cube and hold iton its spot its supposed to not bring it out as much! good luck, i had one this pregnancy also!

Re: anyone get a cold sore?
I cold sore just appeared on the inside of my lip today. AAAAAAH! Righ now I am just using Carmax. I am not sure, but I think I had a cold sore earlier in my pregnancy and I may have used Abreva. I did not know we were not allowed to use it. I should have asked my doctor.

Re: anyone get a cold sore?
I unfortunately get them. To be honest I stopped using medications a long time ago because none of them worked for me. I have to just let them run there course.

Re: anyone get a cold sore?
I know this may sound strange, but it works! I get cold sores from stress at least 2-3 times per year. The best way I have found to get rid of them is to use Nail Polish remover! I know, of all things, nail polisher remover? Just use a Q-tip and hold it on for about 15-30 seconds. Do this 3 times per day and you are golden!
