Anyone get annoyed that DH & DC don't eat your food?
As I just posted, I made the most delicious escarole and bean soup. Nobody here will eat it but me. I had to beg DH to try it. I feel like he isn't quite as bad but my kids are the worst. DH and I have very different tastes for the most part. I love to cook but hate spending hours making delicious food for nobody but myself sometimes lol. Anyone ever feel like this?

Anyone get annoyed that DH & DC don't eat your food?
This is our house as well.
DH is a picky eater, DS is even worse than him and DD is on the same verge as them.
This is why I pretty much don't cook anymore because I hate having to make separate meals for everyone. DH is very much a red meat and potato guy, the kids also don't like anything over the top.
All of them are not vegetable fans in the least. DH will eat spinach only if its cream of spinach - totally defeats the point of trying to eat right. He thinks chicken is bland, does not like too many flavors, won't do salad of any sort, pasta usually needs to be a meat Bolognese or vodka sauce, will not do any fish unless its fried shrimp, he thins soup should be cream based and doesn't think its a meal by itself. It just goes on and on.
It's come to the point where I just make sure the kids are fed and I get something to eat. Although, that could also explain why I can't lose weight. I don't have the urge to cook for myself because I have to make different meals for the kids. ughhh

Oh yes, I feel your pain!!! SO funny about the soup, DH says the same! I'm totally fine with soup for dinner, love it actually!

That soup sounds delicious by the way.
To answer your question yes and no.
DH eats almost everything and will try anything once. So that's great. Many recipes that I considered bad, he will like and still eat. However, he eats a lot and likes things a certain way. Like soup or a salad by itself is not a meal. Soup and salad is barely tolerable for him. For me a bowl of soup OR a bowl of salad would be fine. He needs his protein- a lot of protein, and always wants some sort of carb/grain. Veggies and Fruit come last to him. And he always wants sauces and shredded cheeses. He will always say this would be much better if parm cheese was grated on this. That stuff really annoys me for some reason.
DD has good days and bad days. She is picky but as children go, a very diverse and good eater so i don't complain.
I make very complex meals and everyone eats them.

DH will not eat 95% of vegetables. I still make them because I like them, but I don't get upset when he doesn't eat them.

DH is pretty easy going but DD sends me over the edge on a regular basis. Won't eat anything new and half the time won't eat something on Thursday she loved on Tuesday.

DD will only eat pizza, grilled cheese, pasta with plain red sauce, pb and j, cheeseburgers, or mac and cheese.
So yeah. Escarole and bean soup would be a no go.
DH will eat pretty much anything I eat. I even got him to eat sushi recently which is HUGE for him.

My older DS us pretty good about eating different things, but the younger one is tougher. I try to make hunts everyone will eat, but I also made bean soup on Sunday night and I know I'll be the only one to eat that. I'll just freeze the leftovers for next time I have a craving.

I don't bother cooking things I know my family just won't eat. I don't have that kind of time.
Yes, it's frustrating ............but, I've gotten over it.
What makes me INSANE is when I make something they normally DO eat, and then refuse that too -
We have an extremely limited menu in my house .......I've stopped stressing over it. Everyone is fed, everyone takes a vitamin - Noone is starving ........so - I'm not a bad mother

My DH will eat anything. My DS is only 14 months so he doesn't eat much, but he is a pretty good eater so far. I expect he'll go through a picky phase and that wouldn't annoy me.

DH will eat anything you put in front of him... BUT... he puts tobasco on everything. He puts it on my pasta & meatballs! Drives me insane, it just removes the taste of what I cooked and makes it taste only like tobasco, it's not like it enhances the flavor.

Totally agree with this. My 9yo is notorious for loving something one week and then hating it the next.
I have started to try new recipes lately because I was getting really board and not motivated to cook. Pinterest is great for finding new recipes. Not all are winners, but luckily those instances happen less frequently now the kids are older and DH is more open to trying healthier options.
When I want to try new things, I pick things that have similar flavor profiles or textures. I may also make slight variations to the recipe or the way it's prepared if I know one or more won't like it. Then I don't feel like I'm making a whole separate meal for someone.
A few weeks ago I wanted to try making fish tacos using tilapia, but my 9yo will only eat fish sticks. Since he loves tacos and ranch dressing, I oven-fried breaded strips of the tilapia loaded it in the shell and dressed the cabbage shreds in ranch dressing. The rest of us had grilled tilapia with the cabbage slaw.

OMG, this is my DH except he uses BBQ sauce. For years, I used to get really offended cuz it was like a dagger to the heart to see him slather pasta with BBQ sauce. Until one day I asked him why he did it and he finally admitted that he doesn't love Italian food especially tomato-based sauces.
Guess it explains why he never wants to go to an Italian restaurant and if we do he gets something with a cream sauce.
From then on, when he doesn't like something I try to ask him for specifics so I can avoid it or make it a different way.

Me and DH love to eat everything and anything...that's OUR problem 
DD is 17 months and I have to say she is a great eater so I don't have that problem...is there any way you can introduce certain foods to your husband in a different way that he may like...like if he doesn't like spinach what if you hide it in meatballs? Stuff like that..
