Anyone have an MRI & EEG Done? UPDATE
My nephew is going today to have an MRI done, wondering if any other moms had this done to their children?
If you did have it done did it show anything?
One neurologist told my sister to get it, the other 2nd opinion said it wasn't neccessary, so she decided to just do it.
He is 1 year old, and qualified for OT, Speech and feeding therapy through early intervention, 2 times a week OT, and 2 times a week feeding/speech
My poor nephew, they weren't able to take him for the MRI til after 2pm today, and with him not eating or drinking since the night before, well it was a nightmare and they tried for over an hour to get the IV in, and since he was so dehydrated it never took and he never got it done. He is only 1, i feel so horrible

Re: Anyone have an MRI & EEG Done?
Yes, showed slowing of one side of the brain, which the neuro said is typical of a child with developmental delays. We did a regular EEG, 24 hour EEG, and an MRI. The MRI showed a pineal cyst on the brain, but I was told that most people have these and they don't grow. We'll be following up to have it repeated just to make sure.

Re: Anyone have an MRI & EEG Done? UPDATE
Oh my gosh poor guy. We did an MRI in Sept. it was a long wait also. Our appointment was at 8:00a.m. and they didn't take him until 12:30 and after 20 minutes and he's under the machine broke, I was a nervous wreck. In the end the MRI showed nothing or her words were "normal", I guess I'm dumb because I thought an autistic brain would be different than typical. EEG is scheduled for 11/11, again I'm a nervous wreck. Trying to make him sit in a hospital bed for 24 hours all wired up... not gonna be fun.

I think the MRI would only pick up a cyst or something like that. The EEG is where you would get the brain waves results. Good luck with it! Where are you having it done?

Re: Anyone have an MRI & EEG Done? UPDATE
SB, there are looking to see if he's having any sort of seizures. Sometimes he'll just "fade out" when he's doing something and I'm nervous that there's something more to it than just autism. I figured it's time to know but the experience is making me nervous.

Ahh we had the same concern, but no seizures thank god. Good luck, he'll be fine! Bring a DVD player because it takes a couple of hours to get all the electrodes on their head.

(Sorry to highjack thread) but glad to hear no seizures. Hours really? My son doesn't watch tv and I'm at a loss right now how I will keep him occupied.

Re: Anyone have an MRI & EEG Done? UPDATE
Did MRI last month. Came back normal. Doc hasn't mentioned EEG but I will ask him. Two mom's at my son's school have recently done EEG's. One came back normal the other didn't. She has her appt in Dec to go over it.
