Anyone have family that lives close by but does nothing for you?

I am so depressed and stressed out right now. I should be happy and excited because after 3 years of looking we finally found a house. Unfortunately, this is not the case. We closed last Wednesday and spent Sunday and Monday tearing down wallpaper, ripping up rugs and cleaning out the attic. Ava stayed with my mom and step day sunday and monday. Right now we are still in our apt. and need to be out at the end of the month.....considering DH and I work opposite hours during the week.....working on the house over the weekends is our only option.....Anyway, my mom pretty much refused to watch my daughter the remainder of the weekends so now I don't know what to....I guess I could pay my sitter but that adds up and I'm still not going to be able to really spend a lot of time at the house because lets face it I can't drop my daughter off in the morning and pick her up late that night and then do it again the next day. My inlaws are driving down next weekend to stay with her (they live about 3 hours away). So baically I would need my mom to watch her this weekend and the last weekend of oct. I can't understand why she is being so difficult.....it two more weekends and I NEVER ask her to watch my daughter.....According to her Ava doesn't listen and and my mom is tired because she works all week and needs her weekend to relax. She can't get anything done with Ava. It's not like I'm stripping her of a lifetime of freedom it is two weeks. can't she just sacrifice to help us out. Am I wrong for feeling this way. I am so angry with her. Thanks for letting me vent.

Yep... my parents live in Huntington, I live in Northport. They never see Cailen. My stepmom will always go to Plainview to see her daughter and her kids though....

Thems the breaks.

well my ds is 5 months old and my mil who lives 1/2 hour away hasn't seen him since he was born!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she keeps cancelling when we invite her over (of course this is after i clean!) i just don't get it!

My MIL lives next door and is completely useless. Not that I'm looking for her help anyway. The only time she sees DD is when DH or I are walking out to the car with her

My daughter is 2 1/2 my dad lives in northport and has not seen her since the beginning of last december and there was another time where he didn't see her for 4 months when she was first born because he was mad at me that I invited a friend of mine to my daughter's christening that my dad doesn't like.


It stinks that she won't help but do what you can, and you will get the rest done one room at a time as you move in. We moved into our house 4 years ago and it's still a work in progress we always have some sort of project going on here.
