Re: If your family lives close by...
well,my parents watch DD every day while I am at work...so she sees them every day - my sister also stops by pretty much every day on her way home from work to see her.
She sees DHs sisters and parents every other week or so. I wish it were more often but everyones schedules are so crazy...

Re: If your family lives close by...
My ILs see Nate 2-3 times a week. DH's sister (and Nate's godmother) who lives less than 10 min away, sees Nate may 2 or 3 times a year. At first her excuse was alway she didn't have a car. We offered many times to pick her up or come to her place, but she always found a way out. Now she has a car and we still have not seen her. So we've given up on trying together with her.
My parents and family live in NY, so they see him every 2-3 months. Either we will go there or my mom will come to Chicago

My mom and MIL each watch Luca 2 afternoons a week. My sister sees him once a week, my SIL and BIL probably every 2 weeks- sometimes more, sometimes less.

Re: If your family lives close by...
My mom lives about 5 mins away and sees them pretty often. If she doesn't come over here after work she goes to visit my grandma.
My brother and his fiancee live in the next town over but only come over like once a month. But my FSIL lost her dad suddenly right after Thanksgiving so she spends a lot of time with her family. My brother's shift changes from days to nights every other week, so he's usually trying to catch up on sleep.
BIL and his finacee live about 30 mins away and come 2x per month.
ILs split their time between FL and Coram. When they are up they insist on coming over everyday, but MIL is on her phone or yammering away to me the whole time, pretty much ignoring both and FIL only plays with Sarah, Andy is "too wiggly" for him.

Re: If your family lives close by...
To answer my own question... My parents and my sister see them a couple times a week (they live across the street) my MIL hasn't seen them since Christmas.. she lives less than 5 minutes away.. the only time she sees them is if I call her and need her to watch them.. so I've stopped doing that all together.. if she's not going to make and effort my BIL's haven't seen them since Christmas and before that probably Thanksgiving

Re: If your family lives close by...
My parents live next door and get to see DS very often.
We have some family nearby that comes to visit.
We have some IL's in Commack that do not come and visit. The only way they get to see DS is if we got out there... I really think it's so freaking unfair how we always have to go out to them all the time. The only time they come into queens is if their is a birthday or if someone hosts christmas eve. So really if we're lucky the IL's will come to us oh once or twice a year. But we always have to go running out there. My MIL lives downstairs from my BIL's house she doesn't know how to drive so that's why we go to that BIL's house more often than the other. But the other brother cannot be bothered with coming into queens. They never came to see DS after we came home from the hospital. We're lucky they even came to the hospital. I can go on and on but I think i'll stop.
All i'm gonna say is that things are gonna change...

Re: If your family lives close by...
If noone makes the effort than neither will we. We can do the same and only go out there for birthdays.
My MIL always says how it sucks that she can't come down by us as often as she'd like to. She does make the effort when she can. She's taken the LIRR into queens. When she does she goes to her daughter's house in queens and she also makes a visit by us. Or sometimes she stays at our house. My FIL comes every now and then but other than that noone and I do mean noone else makes the effort.

Re: If your family lives close by...
My inlaws are next door. MIL pops in everyday which I don't mind at all. My parents are about 10 mins away and see Bryan at least 2x a week. My sister has been babysitting on Wed. nights and my brother sees him once a week. My BIL and SIL live in NJ and still have not met him, but we have it planned for this Sunday for them to meet.

MIL/FIL see him mostly every day. My one brother sees him maybe once a month and my other brother who is in the Army sees him if he's lucky once a year.
My father who lives in FL has never seen him YET!

But because we are the ones who only have 1 child it's assumed it's a lot easier for us to go out to commack.
We could have 20 kids and we'd still have to be the ones to go out to them.
It's all going to change.

My ILs do and say the same thing and we only live a 1/2 hour away in Bklyn.

Re: If your family lives close by...
My immediate family about 3-4 times a week. But I am a SAHM and my mother is not working right now so we get together a lot during the week, and she watches him for me quite a lot so I can go to the gym. My DH is a Brit and my IL's are in London. So far my MIL has come twice and we have gone there once. We'll see her again during the summer.

I always joke to DH and say that the reason they don't like coming into Queens is because we don't have a big backyard and a pool to be entertained with (well at least during the summer that is... )
