Anyone have the Fisher Price Baby's first Blocks shape sorting bucket?

I put aside 10 dollars to buy a new toy for Cailen. I have not been able to really buy him anything lately, and he really doesn't have any real toys - mostly teething things...

I was torn between the stacking cup tower, and the blocks. I decided on the blocks because he already has stacking cups, and he likes them, but I wanted to get him a shape sorting toy... I figured I could get him something else like that for Hannukah....

He is 6 mts old - can anyone tell me of their DC liked the blocks?

Thats what I was thinking - and I may have another 10 bucks to spare before the holidays so I may be able to get the stacking tower as well. I was torn between somethign I knew he would like already, and between something new, which would be good for him as well....

I have a feeling for now he'll just be chewing on the blocks!!! Chat Icon

YES! And he'll push them across the floor. But then he will try to put them i the holes and get mad and throw them Chat Icon

But then he'll learn to put the blocks together and stack them. So, it kid of IS a stacking toy, if you think about it.Chat Icon

Re: Anyone have the Fisher Price Baby's first Blocks shape sorting bucket?

It was one of DD first real toys and she got lots of use out of it.

It took a while for her to get the hang of what to do with it though since she was so young when we got it for her.

I think he will enjoy it

DD has it, and so far, she loves putting the blocks in her mouth. (Although she loves to put just about anything in her mouth).

You should go to Once Upon a Child in Seaford. They have slightly used things (toys, clothes etc) for much less.

I have never bought anything from there but it all looked good to me (I'll walk there from time to time - it's next to Dunkin Donuts Chat Icon )

It's on Hicksville Road. Right in between the Southern State Parkway and the Seaford Oyster Bay.

You should hit the garage sales and thrift stores, I've found super cheap toys for Emma at both in awesome condition!! They usually only cost a dollar or two if that! Chat Icon

I never really see any - but then again, I never look - I have to keep my eyes peeled, or check out the listings in the paper - I was thinking I might find a car seat as well....

My husband passed a garage sale over here one day (also on his walk to Dunkin Donuts Chat Icon ) and he bought my nephews five videos on potty training (they were learning at the time) all for two dollars.

Well the season is winding down, but thrift stores are the way to go. There is a Goodwill in Commack I believe, you should check it out.

Re: Anyone have the Fisher Price Baby's first Blocks shape sorting bucket?

We got DS this shaper sorter toy from fisher price and right now the pieces are scattered all over the place. He throws them around and they land in all spots. Then the cat gets to them and he starts playing with them thinking it's a catnip toy...Chat Icon

So between DS and the cat I now have to start a scavenger hunt for these pieces...Chat Icon Chat Icon

If I sit down with DS he'll play nice with the shape sorter but if I leave him alone with it then the pieces go flying everywhere. I think he does it cuz he gets a kick out of seeing the cat chasing after the shapes...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

They might not sell carseats due to liability concerns. Many second-hand stores avoid cribs and carseats... too much to keep up with via recalls etc.

I wish I knew you needed one. A church in Centerport had their annual baby sale last weekend. They were selling gently used car seats for $20-30.

They even had a Britax Marathon there.
Tons of toys for $1-3.
I packed my car so full I could barely see out the windows for less than $100... even got a double stroller for $30.

I've gotten great deals at Once Upon a Child... got a LeapFrog learning table for $19 vs. $40 new. And their books are usually no more than $1.25 each.

Definitely check craigslist. Many people post garage sales and note if they have toys. You can make a list and go early on Saturday mornings. There's only a few weeks left due to weather.

Oh, and the money you save you can go buy that blenderChat Icon and save even more on baby food.
