Re: Anyone hosting Christmas? What are you making?

We are doing a whole roasted beef tenderloin, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and lasagna for Christmas Day.

Christmas Eve we have cut back a lot...we do traditional antipasto (fresh mozzarella, peppers, sausage, mushrooms), a bunch of italian apps, and then pasta with shrimp and scallops fra diavlo and chicken scarpariello. We always have icebox cake on Christmas Eve for dessert and homemade egg nog.

I'm doing Christmas Day. I'm thinking lasagna, chicken parm and meatballs with parmesan roasted green beans, salad and garlic bread. Small group, so nothing crazy.

Re: Anyone hosting Christmas? What are you making?

I do Christmas Day - kind of a whoever wants to show up kind of thing.
My family does the HUGE Eve, so we're kind of stuffed the next day -
I usually tell people to come by any time after 4.......and I do appetizers and antipasto(s) - Lot's of breads, olives, cheese, stuffed mushrooms, a tray of saussage & peppers, eggplant parm that kind of thing ........just to pick and drink and hang out - Also stuff that I can easily prep before.

Then I do coffee and dessert - Again, very informal -

I refuse to be stuck in the kitchen prepping/serving/cleaning while everyone else gets to enjoy my kids on Christmas. I just won't do it.

Re: Anyone hosting Christmas? What are you making?

I host every year for my parents, ILs, my sister, and her kids. I've done turkey and all the trimmings several times but this year, like last, I'm planning on:
Prime rib
Brussels sprouts
Mashed potatoes
Yorkshire pudding
Dinner rolls
Maybe corn

I'm not sure of appetizers, but my ILs usually bring an antipasto. For dessert, I'll have a pumpkin pie, Christmas cookies, and whatever anyone else brings.

Re: Anyone hosting Christmas? What are you making?

Italian Christmas Eve/Feast of the fishes is at my ILs.

I host a brunch in the AM and then I make lasagna for my family.

Thinking of adding the chicken parm or meatballs this year. Both sound good and are great for leftovers!

Re: Anyone hosting Christmas? What are you making?

I host Christmas Day for both sides:

I usually do proscutto and manchego cheese with GF bread sticks and italian bread.

Dinner is filet roast that DH makes on the charcoal grill.
String beans
lasanga
a spagetti squash recipe, maybe with some asparagus and sausage
roasted potatoes
My mom is making eggplant park.

We have a lot of allergies in the family so it is tricky this year. I have some magazines to go through so we will see what I end up making.
