You may not have to pay fees if you lease another car of the same or greater value from the same place.

Re: Anyone know anything about returning a leased car early??

It depends how early
My friend is allowed to turn hers in 2 months early

My sister wanted to turn hers in very early, she had 17 payments left
and they wanted to charger her a rediculous amount of money so she ended up keeping and waiting it out

They both have Audi's

I just looked into this as well, I lease a Avalanche, ughhh the gasChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon is sending me to the poor .. Its thru gmac & I was told when i have 6-8 months left to go to a gm dealer & they have a program called "trade up" where u can turn in the lease early , as long as u get into another gm vehicle , & they wont penilze you for doing so . I belive with any lease when u have alot of payments left , they hit you hard to turn it in early. Thats what stinks about leasing, but the payemnst are so much less when you do,,

maybe call the financing company & speak to customer service & ask them if they have such a program or something similar,,

just do your research and make sure you WANT another GM car

don't just lease another one to get out of this one alittle early

I don't regret doing it- b/c my car had so many issues- but my only option was to trade up- at the cost of $200 more a month

my parents neighbors couldn't get out of it. they would have had to pay the remainder of the lease anyway.

This is correct...

Fee's are one thing, paying your remaining rents is another thing.

A dealer "can" roll over remaining rents (they would pay off the bank) and finance that into your next vechicle. and some fees could be waived (depending on make) if you buy or lease another vechicle.

as of now, you own them 24 months x $XXX payments. If you turned it in, you still owe that sum.

Reason number one why I never lease. You have absolutely zero flexibility if you need to get out of a car and sell it.

If you finance you can trade it in and you get a sales tax break on your next car.

And yes even though they may let you trade up into a new lease, they may just be waiving the penalties. They may very well roll over your remaining lease payments into your next car and that would be a horrible move.

Don't do it. My DH turned in one lease early and leased another vehicle. His payments on the new vehicle were $700/month because they rolled the remaining lease payments into the new lease. It's really not worth it.

I know that there are reputable places online that will help you "sell" your lease to someone that takes it over.

My old roommate did that when she moved into the city.

I actually just saw a consumer report about this on the Today show too.

I am in the car business. You can trade in the lease, just the same as you would trade in a financed car. Call the bank and get a payoff or buyout $, then have the dealer appraise the car. If it is not that big a difference, you can do it.. It all depends on the car. Good luck and you can FM me if you have any questonsChat Icon

I am quoting myself- b/c I want to add- I did not roll the payments from my first lease into my second

I leased a more expensive car

they waived the bank fee

but my situation was different- my car was in the shop every other week - the car marker purchased my car back from the dealer

Ok i'm listening. Tell me how you have more flexibility turning in a lease that's barely a year old over financing?
