Has anyone returned a car with a slight ding in it? Did they say anything. I have returned cars with scratched bumpers and they didn't say anything, but i have a slight dent or ding in the door - I don't know if I should fix or not. it is about 500 to fix
any advise is appreciated
TIA

Re: returning leased car
I've always heard that you shouldn't clean the car, that way they may not notice the ding.

Re: returning leased car
I returned my Acura with a ding and what looked like someone ran a shopping cart down the side of one door. Acura covers the first $1500 of damage so I had no issues.

Re: returning leased car
When I returned my leased car I had a couple of small dings and didn't have a problem.

Re: returning leased car
I returned a Saab in September and they charged me $450 for a very small scratch on the bumper - much smaller than a credit card. It may have been a different story if I got another Saab...

I am in the car bussiness. What kind of car is it? Which company is the lease through? Every single bank has different poicies. FM me and I will find out for you.

Re: returning leased car
If it makes you feel better i returned a leased car a few years with a good size dent on the front of my hood from someone who hit me in a parking lot a day before I was to return it. I offered to get it fixed but they told me not to worry because I was quite upset due to the car being immaculate.

Re: returning leased car
I just paid Nissan $186 for a pretty nice size crease in my Murano door. I was pleasantly surprised how reasonable the estimate was.

Re: returning leased car
I got a paper from Jeep, and if the ding was smaller than the paper, and not more than 1 per panel there was no cost. I also got the same from BMW. I gave both cars back with a couple of digs and never had to pay. I had a scratch on the back bumper of the Jeep and just put a bumper sticker over it!!

Re: returning leased car
Did they send you any paperwork with lease return guidelines? Sometimes they send out information relating to what will be covered and what will be charged, and a ding/dent might have to be less than the size of a quarter, for example.
