Anyone know what "normal" amniotic fluid levels are?

I was sent to the Fetal evaluation unit last week to check my fluid levels because the baby was moving a lot less. The doctor there said that everything looked good and let me go. Well, when I went to the doctor yesterday she said that she wanted me to get a follow up appointment ASAP because my levels were low (coming in at a 6). So, I went back today and I am now at 6.8. They again said it looked fine, but I am wondering if that really is fine. A friend of mine just had her baby via c-section 3 1/2 weeks early for low fluid and her number was 6.9. Anybody know anything about this? I just hate being confused.

I "think" but don't quote me - 5-25 is normal but I have been 22 and told I am boarderline high fluid. I would say 6 or 7 would be considered borderline low.

etd to add it is called oligohydramnios - if you are under 5 I believe

i dont' know - i'm sorry but try posting on parenting too maybe one of the girls there went through it and can advise?

It depends on your gestational age. Less than 5 is low, and between 5-7 is borderline but expected near your due date

also are you sure thats the entire number and not just one pocket....There are 4 pockets of fluid....They add them together normally for the top number.
