specifically BIRTH - no...but other classes, yes.
we rented, laugh & learn about childbirth and that was good enough! it was VERY long (8 hours maybe) and i have literally 8 pages of notes!

Just went to one class and it was ok... some stuff I knew already, but it was just the first class. Only reason DH and I signed up b/c they're doing it at the hospital we're delivering at so it's good to get familiar with it and also meet the nurses. Plus, it includes a tour and breastfeeding class.

We're probably not doing birthing classes. They have enough nurses and stuff at the hosptial to help out when you need it anyways. We're just doing the hospital tour so we can see the updated rooms.

We aren't. I might be naive but as I understand it the nurses in l&d are fantastic and will help us through the process. I have two books which I will read but I am worried that a class will totally freak me out.

never took a class with #1, definitely not taking one with #2! they would have been such a waste for me because the nurses tell you everything you need to do.
i watched the laugh and learn series, which was good

just a suggestion.. if you dont take a class do look up/try out breathing techniques in advance...
I took the classes and 2 weeks after the breathing class Braxton Hicks started up and it really came in handy

i did not. the only class I took was the required c section class at Good Sam
I was going to take Lamaze but just never signed up for it. When I was in labor - the nurse's were showing me how to breathe through the contractions - so i didnt need lamaze anyway

No we opted for the Laugh & Learn about Childbirth DVD- we were ok with that- The only class we did take was the Infant/Child CPR which also covered adult- thought that was helpful- plus the covered choking since that is more common in infants/children

i dont plan on taking any classes. as i see it, women were giving birth 100's of years ago without classes and did just fine.  i'll just listen to what the dr's and nurses tell us to do.

i did not with number 1 and i will not with number 2.
i did read a lot of material about birth but everything i knew went out the window when the pain kicked it. I could care less about anything... all i wanted was for someone to hit me over the head with a brick

I took lamaze with DD #1, and it was a waste. I ended up missing the last 2 classes, because she came early. Unless the hospital requires something, we will not be taking any.
