Anyone stay at the Animal Kingdom resort?
I am trying to decide if I want to stay at Animal Kingdom resort or if I should just downgrade to one of the Moderate resorts. I will have a 15 month old and a 5 yr old at the time of our travel if that helps.

I love Animal Kingdom!!! It's totally worth it.
The only drawback is if you think you will be spending the majority of your time at Magic Kingdom - it's far.

Re: Anyone stay at the Animal Kingdom resort?
I stayed there the first time I went and I loved it. We did upgrade to the rooms with a balcony with an animal view and it was awesome mostly for that reason. People complian it is far from the theme parks but I didn't see it as an issue (my boys were 14mos and 3.5yrs). My DH preferred being closer (we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge the next time we went).

Re: Anyone stay at the Animal Kingdom resort?
We had the Savanah View with a balcony. LOVED waking up to seeing the animals. The Lodge was beautiful and so many things to see.
It is a bus ride to any park and it was a bit longer, but nothing awful. Just really 'felt' it on the way home (but that is always the case when you are sleepy).
I have also stayed on the monorail resorts and that was GREAT and easy for the parks.
I would stay at AK again.

Re: Anyone stay at the Animal Kingdom resort?
I concur with the above comments. AKL is one of my favorite resorts and I have been fortunate enough to stay at all of them.
The Savanna View rooms really enhance your stay, but if one is not in the budget, there are many different areas throughout the resort where you can view the animals throughout the day.
My 8yo daughter loves Simba's Cubhouse (the youth center) and the pool, and the 2 main restaurants (Boma, Jiko) are fabulous.
If there is a downside, it would be the bus ride to Magic Kingdom where I would think the bulk of your time would be spent. That said, getting on and off the bus will little ones is usually the most painful part of the trip, and you would need to do that at a moderate resort anyway.
For my money, Animal Kingdom (and Wilderness Lodge) offer a good value and a great experience.

Re: Anyone stay at the Animal Kingdom resort?
We have stayed at AKL many times and love it. It is a huge hotel though, so since you have little ones and would be taking the shuttle, when checking in I would request if they could possibly give you a room close to the lobby.
There are tons of things for your 5 year-old to do there. I would definitely take a day or 2 to just hang out at the hotel!!
Taking the bus to MK wasn't a big deal to me. It was only about a 10-15 minute ride.
