Anyone use care.com for a one night babysitter or have other suggestions
I have never left my 3 kids (6,5,2 yrs) with anyone other than family (grandparents, aunts, cousins, etc)
But we have a night function that my DH and I both need and want to be at in 3 weeks and everyone who I have ever had babysit is going!
How do you go about having a one time night baby sitter - my parents always had teenagers on our block growing up - but I don't really know of any on the block!
Had anyone used care.com - I am a little nervous leaving my kids with a complete stranger
Don't know what to do
Any suggestions!?!

Are any of your kids in dance or swimming where there are local teens? We found our sitters through the dance studio

Regardless who you find - make sure you have them come over at least once before the night when you are home so the kids can meet them and get a little comfortable.

Sometimes if you call the local high school, they place sitters.
Ask around for recs or if anyone has/knows a teen or college student.
Also, some of the teachers at my daycare sit on the weekends.

I didn't love care.com. Hardly anyone was reviewed. Yes I could call references and I would do that anyway but I'm paying $30+ a month for care.com I'd like more references for the sitters I'm looking at. I interviewed one girl from there and I liked her but when I told her I'd like to hire her she all of a sudden got a cold and thought it was best she shouldn't be around the baby. FTR I had just seen her hours before that. I had a bad taste in my mouth after that plus a lot of the profiles were outdated (college kids looking for summer work but it was the middle of winter when I was searching). I ended up finding someone on a local FB group. Her mom posted that her daughter was looking for a babysitting job. Are you on a FB group in your neighborhood? I'd recommend that over care.com

oh ok....I found my sitter on care.com. We love her but don't think she would go that far.
