Anyone want to start a Nike+ challenge?
I was just perusing the challenges and don't know which to choose! I need to get back into running more - it is so hard for me to focus on the treadmill especially after the MTC workouts.
Anyone interested?

Yeah unfortunately you need the Nike+ system  You can create challenges on Nike+ .com and as you upload your workouts it will update where you are in the challenge. It's pretty cool actually!

Okay well let's pick one together because there are lots of choices!! The only thing I would like is to something more long term so it will keep me going 
How about something like first one to run 250 miles or something like that?

The chip is i think about $25. You don't need the nano, I have the wristband, which I love. It was I think like $65, but I'm not sure, and it came with a chip thing. I might use my cc reward points to get a nano and use it with that.

no, it doesn't have GPS. If you just got that watch, I would say stick with that. Unless you already have the nano, then I would just get the chip thing and it's worth it.

Okay here is the lowdown this is what you need for Nike+
If you have a nano (or an Ipod touch 2g - for 1st g you need a software upgrade I believe). You only need the Nike+ sensor. It is $30.
If you don't have a nano you can get the Nike sportband. It's $60, comes with the sensor and the sportband can plug into your computer and upload your data.
I also have Nike+ sneakers...it already has a place to put the sensor in it. However they sell little sensor holders and pouches now that you can tie to your sneakers and use with any brand.

Wait! I have the touch! How do you get it to work? I have that software that I had to pay for ( ) and it didn't say anything about using the Nike + with it. I need to look into this.

I have a 2nd generation and it was already on there. I heard (from DH not exactly the most reliable source) that if you get the software upgrade (for like $10) you can get it on there. Not sure if this is true.
If it is, I definitely would recommend it! I know you have the sportband but I love having it on my ipod touch. I don't know if you can pick different runs with the sportband (i.e time, distance, calorie goals for your runs)

you guys are tempting me. I got the new garmin for xmas, but I am not loving it at all. and I have been in the market for a new ipod...this might make sense.
If it doesn't have gps, how does it know how many miles you have run? or your pace.
honestly all I want is pace and total distance...and if I don't have to wear the watch - all the better!
I'm trying to look on the nike+ site, but I can't tell if it has these specifics...can you guys tell me? I'm going to the deer park outlets tomorrow - do you think they have everything there?

The chip thing that goes in your shoe is like a pedometer. It can tell you your pace and total distance as well as time and overall time. The only thing it doesn't have is heartrate..that's another watch
I like it a lot. If you can return your Garmin and not lose money, I say go for it!

You just jogged my memory! Press settings and scroll down (the apps are on the bottom). My Nike+ was there and I had to turn it on  Forgot that part of it....
