I think that if you have a great daycare situation, like I feel that I do, leaving your child in their care doesn't feel bad.
If you know what I mean. I love my nursery and I know my son is happy there, and to be honest, he is much more stimulated at daycare then he would be everyday with me. The days I have off to spend with him are all about him...so I don't mind it.
I don't mean to sound argumentative, cos I aint. But I like a good discussion.
I feel the same way. I know my DD is loved and cared for the 8 hours I am away from her at work. I have to work but even if I didn't I think I would anyway. I love my job and I love the time I spend with my DD. I created my life because it suits ME! I really don't care what other people think though. Judge away if you have nothing better to do. It just doesn't affect me. I don't think I love my child any less since I work and enjoy it.
That being said, I also work 10 minutes from home and get home by 4pm. My heart goes out to women who have to commute and get home so late. It must be so hard. But again, not judging their choices, needs or decisions.
I also really respect women who are SAHM. The financial sacrifices, personal career ones, just being the one to care for children all day AND run a household- tough stuff if you ask me.
I don't see why we have to judge ANYONE'S choices. They all have pluses and minuses- nothing is ever ideal. You have to do what works for you. End of my ramble...

Re: Anyone watch Cashmere Mafia last night? Working vs. SAHMs
I work 3 days a week and DD is with my MIL for 2 days and my mom for one day. I love that she is with them and they both have such an amazing relationship with her. I also have a cleaning lady so that I don't spend my days at home cleaning, etc. That said, the days I am home with DD, it's exhausting! I give FT SAHMs A LOT of credit!! I'll admit...personally, going to work is DEFINITELY easier than staying home for me!

Re: Anyone watch Cashmere Mafia last night? Working vs. SAHMs
I don't think it's so cut and dry as to say that if you are a SAHM, you are not contributing, and if you are a working mom, you dont want to be with your kids. That is very simplistic, and more often than not, incorrect. I was a SAHM for a bit, and am now a working mom. It breaks my heart every single day to leave DS but guess what -without money to pay the bills, and without health insurance, many other problems will arise in my household!
That being said, I think that people who have not been on both sides of the fence often do feel that their way is the only right way. My SAHM friends definitely look down on me for putting DS in daycare and feel they are "better" moms for being home with their kids. Honestly, I think I personally am a better mom now that I am working because I am not as impatient and frustrated with DS.
The bottom line is that now that I have done both, I would never feel a "versus" mentality and would never judge someone for their choices.
