Anyone watching the Baltimore riots?
This is the world our youth have to look forward to. It's only going to get worse.

Re: Anyone watching the Baltimore riots?
This makes me so mad for minority ethnicity people. I have met and known so many amazing, moral, intelligent, loving people of all colors and it is so incredibley unfair that these people are going to be grouped along with these garbage thugs rioting.
Why can't they organize and stage a peaceful protest? Why can't they elect a spokesperson to speak for them or distribute a written statement? Create fundraisers to raise $ to do these things is need be? Then we can hear and respect them. Why are they doing this to themselves?

Sorry, I'm referring to the protestors. I just wish there could be a better way so good can somehow come out of this.

There are peaceful protests, and people doing helpful things like cleaning up the mess the rioters made. But those don't get ratings.

Re: Anyone watching the Baltimore riots?
I just read some "breaking news" that Gray had spine surgery 1 week before his arrest??!! OMG if this is true, it is proof that you cannot jump to conclusions. And if it is not true, it is scary that things that are not 100% truth can be put out there by the media.
Just wanted to add that, this in no way is me saying there isn't a big problem in America that needs to be addressed but I think it is vital that people know a complete story before making a judgement.

I'm not sure if this is true but I googled and found this: http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/04/28/did-freddie-gray-have-spinal-surgery-from-car-accident-a-week-before-his-arrest/

I just looked it up... it's from pretty non-credible sources. We'll see.
ETA: It's also all speculation.

Just saw the attorney for The Gray Family on the news. He said there was no surgery. Media makes me sick.

Re: Anyone watching the Baltimore riots?
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/04/nonviolence-as-compliance/391640/
Anyone read this article? I found it really interesting.
That last paragraph really made me think:
"When nonviolence is preached as an attempt to evade the repercussions of political brutality, it betrays itself. When nonviolence begins halfway through the war with the aggressor calling time out, it exposes itself as a ruse. When nonviolence is preached by the representatives of the state, while the state doles out heaps of violence to its citizens, it reveals itself to be a con. And none of this can mean that rioting or violence is "correct" or "wise," any more than a forest fire can be "correct" or "wise." Wisdom isn't the point tonight. Disrespect is. In this case, disrespect for the hollow law and failed order that so regularly disrespects the community."

Re: Anyone watching the Baltimore riots?
Just watched news footage of a sneaker store being cleared out by protesters. Owner begging police to help him as he is watching the surveillance cameras capture criminals emptying out his warehouse without any concern of being arrested...some were even smiling. Such a disgrace and the lack of respect is disheartening. This owner put his blood, sweat & money into his business thats been there for over 35 years and these ass***** come in and tear it up. Now thats a fantastic message.
