Anyone watching the Leah Remini docuseries about her exit from Scientology on A&E?
Last episode was sad - to demolish a young man's life like that. True, he committed the crime, but he clearly needed to be on medication. I watched a Scientology show recently on ID about something similar, but with a worse ending. A family (mom and dad) were part of Scientology and over time her son started exhibiting signs of schizophrenia, but of course Scientologists just thought he needed weeks of expensive auditing. The son (I think in early 20s) got worse and the mom had to take care of him full time. He snapped one day and ended up brutally killing her (stabbed her over 100 times). It's awful that Scientology doesn't admit that some people really do need medical help.
I'll be interested to see what happens with the lawyers - although I can't imagine that A&E and Leah have enough money to take on the billion dollar corporation.

Yes.
But, I also think the idea of a man sitting up in the clouds watching everyone on earth is also weird. It's the same thing to me.

Not at all. I'm hoping they get into that as I think thats what started Leah doubting the religion.
The series is over, the episode about the guy throwing the hammer was the last one (if you don't count the filmed AMA that she did. I read the AMA and she really doesnt get into more about Shelly.)

Oh man. I didn't realize that was the last episode!!! Ugh. Although I heard they are in talks for another season.

Did you read her book? There's info about Shelly in there too.

Omg. Yes!!! I had never heard about this until the show. Now I googled it. It is so crazy to me.
Up until then, I was like ok, well I see how some people could get into Scientology. The whole idea that you can help the planet, etc.
But if Xenu is one of their core beliefs, it's strange how they don't find out about him until they are fully into Scientology on one of the final levels. And if you don't believe, I read they make you keep reading and auditing about Xenu again and again paying thousands so you can achieve the highest level.
