Re: anyones' child have a reaction to Oatmeal?

PEd and I "think" my DD did. My PED won't do testing cause everything will come back alarming since we know she has protein allergies and she's on neocate for that reason.

We gave it to her for a week and she developed a nasty rash on her coolie, she was VERY cranky and irritable, and was waking up screaming several times in the middle of the night-totally out of character for her.

My doc gave us the option to either skip cereal all together and he even said if we've brave we can try it again. He's confident she'll grow out of it.

Do you think DC is having a reaction?

ETA: as soon as we stopped the oatmeal she went back to her pleasant self.

I gave her oatmeal last night, and woke up this morning with a bright red rash all over face and it was pimply raised, its also on her diaper area, but no place else. Shes acting like her normal self otherwise. I had also gave her a bath last night and her face was dry so i put California super sensitive face/body lotion on her face (that was at 4pm, and nothing appeared) I only put on face/body, but not on diaper area.

I called peds and hes not sure what its from, too many factors he said. Could be oatmeal, lotion or a virus first peaking out. He said to stop oatmeal and lotion until it clears up. then when it does try oatmeal again and nothing else new. If it appears then they can say its from that.

That's what my DD's rash looked like. I was really red and raw looking too. My DD had those same pimples on her face/body before she started neocate and was having reactions to the proteins in the formula.
So has soon as i saw it again, i Knew it was the oatmeal since that was the only thing new i used.

Def sounds like good advice the PED gave you.

Let me know how it goesChat Icon i hope it clears up fast.

It is hard to tell it could be - so I would do as your ped recommended - This is one reason the ped told us to only give DD new foods morning or at lunch and not at dinner or night time - b.c it can take a while for a reaction to show and if it happens when they sleep you wouldn't necessarily know.

Im defiantly going to give to her in morning next time. I put some hydrocortizone cream on her face and its seems to be settling it down.
