Anyone's DC have really blue eyes in the beginning & they changed? [ADDED CLOSE UP OF MUNCKIN'S EYES AT BOTTOM]

DH & I are brown hair, brown eyes - so we never thought we'd have a blue eyed child. But, Ryan's eyes are very blue. We know they can change up to 6-months - but I wonder if the degree of blue indicates if they stay or change Chat Icon
Honestly, it would be weird at this point to see him with brown eyes - although that's what I always imagined for him.

He's 4+months and they seem to get lighter with time

My niece had blue eyes when she was born and they've darkened over time. They are hazel now.

Hayley's changed from a pretty blue to a hazel/green/very tiny hint of blue. They changed around her 1st b-day (I think)

Re: Anyone's DC have really blue eyes in the beginning & they changed?

we're all brown eyed here. my dd is almost 9 months and she also was born with lighter blue eyes. my son's were slate grey and turned brown in like 3 weeks.

hers are still fairly blue. with some brown specks in them. in sunlight they look hazel even though there is no green in them.

i asked the eye doctor about it (she wears glasses already) and he said they can change color until about age 2. but if the eyes are light enough (my dd's are) they probably won't ever be brown, but likely to go into the hazel family.

Kaitee's eyes were very blue untill about 7 or 8 months. Then they turned green. Now (24 months old) most days they look brown but some days they are green.

I have been told that, in general, if they get lighter in the beginning they will more than likely stay light. Whether or they will stay blue is up for grabs though...

My eldest daughter never had blue eyes her eyes were brown from the day she was born...

My twin girls' eyes were blue until about 3 when I noticed that they were really more of a gray...now at 9 they seem a bit more on the greenish side...

DS's eyes are blue with no other color in there at all...

My eyes are green DS's and DD's Daddy's eyes are brown.

Same for DD. I have dark brown and DH has blue - I think her eyes are a combo of both of ours.Chat Icon

I have medium brown eyes and DH has very blue or aqua, depending on the day. DD was born with very blue eyes and now they are green at 10 months.

DH and I both have blue eyes. (So we expect him to have blue eyes.) DS's eyes started out a dark blue and then got lighter as time went on.

If you each have a blue recessive then you can have a blue eyed child. Any blue eyes on either side of the family?

I think if they are light at birth, they will stay blue or green and if they are dark at birth they may change to brown

Re: Anyone's DC have really blue eyes in the beginning & they changed?

DH has brown eyes and mine are hazel with lots of green. We both have lots of blue eyes in our families.

DS had really dark blue eyes. They are still blue at 13 months and just a bit lighter but not very light at all.

They can still change.

Actually eye color can even change in adulthood although not that common but mostly with people with blue eyes.

My father has blue eyes (from his mother), and DH's mom has green eyes.
The ped told me whatever they are at 6months is what he'll have but that she'd be shocked if they go brown being that they've gotten lighter.

Not true. In "general" eye color is determined by 6-9 months but I think we had a thread on this a while ago and a few moms said their child was 18 months and their eye color changed.

I also read about this when I was wondering about DS' eye color and found quite a few adults eyes changed when they were adult. Mostly to a greyish or greenish color.

They can change up until 2 years old i think. Both my cousins kids had blue eyes until they were about 18 months, now they are hazel.

At DD's last check up, I asked this question and the Dr said it can take up to age 2 to determine the actual eye color to stay permanent.

I was platinum blonde with blue eyes (and so was my brother 2 years later) for several years. Probably until 6 or 8. Then our hair got darker every year. Now, it's mostly dark brown (bro's is darker than mine), and we both have hazel eyes.

Noah's were blue and turned green at around 1 year.

Robbie's were blue - but are now starting to get some green around the iris (he is 7).

Rob has blue eyes and I was blue eyed until puberty - at which point my eyes turned green.

They can actually change up until they are two. But if they are going to be a dark brown they will most likely change by 6 months. Eyes that takes a year or two to change are usually green/hazel or greyish. Can you post a close-up of DS eyes? Maybe then we could tell. I am actually pretty good at telling if they will change or not.
