I think the "standard" depends on when the apt was built.

My last two 1 bedroom apartments were in pre-war builings, and had 3 closets-a linen, a coat, and a bedroom closet--they were all about the same size, witha regular room entrance sizes door. In the older builing, the bedroom closet was added on later and was a little bigger, so it originally only had 2 closets.

In my 2 bedroom garden apt in a co-op complex now (built in the late 40s), I have have a linen, and a closet, and 2 closet in the master bedroom.

No closets in the smaller bedroom.

My DH lived in a legal 2 bedroom apt above a store in Queens & had NO closets.

We had 1 in one br, 2 in the other. A hall one, one in the LR and one in the kitchen (plus a pantry). I think we had more in the apt. then we do in this house

I only have 2 and they are small. It is not good. I need more space.

2... 1 in the BR and 1 in the hall way.

Needless to say, we are really tight on storage space
