Appliances - opinions please
We are investigating appliances and need opinions. I have not purchased new large appliances EVER We still have the stove and refrigerator that came with our coop.
As of today we are considering:
Refrigerator: LG Electronics Side by Side 26.5 Cubic Foot Total Capacity Refrigerator Model: LSC27950ST stainless
Wall Oven: KitchenAid KEBC171K 27" stainless wall oven
Cooktop for island: Caldera 36" gas cooktop stainless/black
Dishwasher: LG lo noise dshwasher LDF6810ST stainless
If you have any of these items or have tested them out please give us your opinion.
Thanks!
This is the kitchen layout

Re: Appliances - opinions please
my only advice is with a side by side fridge. I know from person experience they don't allow as much room as an up/down traditional fridge. If you have an item like a sheetcake, etc you basically cant' fit it.
Something to consider

Re: Appliances - opinions please
If you are going with stainless appliances, it is best to stick with one brand since each brand's stainless steel varies in color....just my opinion....

Re: Appliances - opinions please
Thanks ladies. Keep them coming
I had not considered the side by side storage dilemma for wide trays I guess I need to look at French door styles.

Re: Appliances - opinions please
Another thing to consider is that wall overs usually have a smaller internal demsion. For example, it might be 36" on the outside but only 30" on the inside. So make sure that the wall oven is large enough to fit cookie sheets. My mother recently remodled her kitchen and instead of installing a double wall over she instaled 2 freestanding ovens. She didnt loose countertop space, she still has a large pantry which she might not have had and she can put really large pans and roasting dishes in their. I would also recommend the french door type of frige. As far as going with the different brands, we did. We have Kitchen Aide and Fridgidare as far as brands in our kitchen and you can't tell. If you decide to go that route just make sure the stainless looks the same. I think LG makes a different looking stainless.

Re: Appliances - opinions please
Check your fridge - I would see if it could fit trays. I know my side by side could in the fridge but not the freezer.
As for matching stainless - depends on location of them - it may not matter. I opted for many different brands as well and it looks fine. I was more concerned with the handles flowing together - not all mine match but is ok. Different brands - different handle styles and again depending on where they are - may look weird.
I have a 27" double wall oven and it does fit cookie pans just can't fit 2 on one shelf long ways. My old one was 24" (I think) and it was way too small. I really like my wall ovens.
I would do research on LG. While I looked at some of their stuff - old reviews seemed good but newer ones weren't as good and they said service was rough.

A friend mentioned this. Her mom has something smaller than a 24" wall oven and it was an ordeal to replace once it went out. That weird under 24" size came with the house so they had to buy the same size when it died.

Re: Appliances - opinions please
two down - 2 to go.
We ordered the wall oven Frigidaire FEB30T7FC 30" 4.2 cu ft interior capacity (much better than the 27")
And we ordered the cooktop 36" Caldera Gas Cooktop
Frig & D/W are next

I would definitely make sure that the stainless is all from the same co - the colors are very different and very noticeable when put in the same kitchen.

Re: Appliances - opinions please
I got a counter depth side by side fridge so it is a tad bit wider and I have no problem putting wide things in (on the fridge side only). I originally wanted the french doors but it didn't work with our design. Now I am glad I didn't get it because my bro and SIL have it and I don't like it. I find myself always haveing to open 2 doors to find what I need rather than one. Also, to pull out the produce drawer you have to open both. Silly I know, but it bothers me.

Thanks. I do not think it's silly at all - it's something to consider for an appliance you will have for 5 - 7 years or longer.
We have been looking at side-by-side and french door models so far.
