Applying again
When is it a good time to start applying again? Do schools ever hire from the outside for leaves? Should I just wait until February/March or send out mass mailed resumes this time of year? Thanks
I am sitting here

Re: Applying again
My district hires leave replacements that are out of district. What is your certification?

Re: Applying again
I empathize with you. I am in the same boat as you. Certified 1-6 no teaching job yet constantly sending out resumes. I mainly send to schools in Queens. I know I do not have a chance in Long Island until I gain atleast a few years experience.
Keep you chin up! I am trying so hard to keep mine up!!

Re: Applying again
Right before I graduated last fall I sent out a ton of resumes and landed (2 back -toback) leave jobs that took me from dec to the end of the year. I knew no one in the district! My resume was in the right place at the right time with the right experience!

Re: Applying again
not sure about applying, but wanted to offer this POTENTIAL advice (and i say potential because im NOt positive that it will work )
But has anyone been to the employment offices in hauppauge ?
Just wondering if they would help out with printing and mailing resumes.
When I first moved here I was looking for office work, and someone directed me there. once youre a "member" (just sign up for a card) they print and mail out (nice paper, nice envelopes) as much as you need, for free. its part of the county services.
You pretty much go there, surf the net or look through their books, (or bring your own contact info to where youre sending resumes) and send out from there..
I havent ttried this with teaching, but it should be worth a shot if youre sending out a gazzillion resumes.
they also have free computer classes for those that are not computer literate. I know we all are, but incase you have friends or family. I keep telling a mommy friend to go there when she whines about not knowing how to check her email ! you just have to say youre "job hunting" in order to use the services..
good luck

Re: Applying again
Hey, I have another idea on landing a job.
Let's change our last names.
Ive gotten to know the "popular" last names in a couple of districts..
those resumes seem to get pushed right to the top
I think we can call them "family run" districts.
