Are airlines still leaving middle seat open?
I believe I read Southwest is keeping flights empty enough for that until Nov 30th. Haven't looked recently if they changed it. Does anyone know about Frontier? Looking to just leave from Islip so these are my choices. I am nervous about having someone next to us. It will be the two of us.
Edited: I don't see anything in reference to the middle seat being empty on Southwest website.
Has anyone flown recently?

Not sure but I would just call both airlines directly and ask so you can be sure.

Re: Are airlines still leaving middle seat open?
Southwest is limiting booking capacity thru Nov30 where they are "blocking" middle seats. Since Southwest is open seating, they are simply selling 60 or so less tickets per plane (ex: two seats per row not sold).
A family of three can still sit together on Southwest if they choose.

An open middle seat actually sounds like heaven! More room to spread out!

Re: Are airlines still leaving middle seat open?
I have flown 5 times since the pandemic, and a few of those were international flights.
I can say that Jetblue and Delta are following social distancing by keeping middle seats open and delta is also keeping first class seats open. So when I flew alone in first class last week the seat was automatically blocked off next to me.
Some advice I can give is obv wear a mask, be prepared that none of the stores, or restaurants will be open.
I found flying during the pandemic totally fine and safe.

American is not blocking any seats, my friends flew Miami to JFK and they oversold by 7 seats. Fully packed the way there and back.

Southwest is limiting capacity through 11/30. Frontier will guarantee an empty middle seat for a fee (but only a small number of these seats are available for purchase per flight)

Yea I know. I just had to book a flight and was trying to avoid using American for that reason.

Re: Are airlines still leaving middle seat open?
I flew in July Jetblue and Delta and middle seat was empty. I think most did it but I know a bunch were ending it. Glad to hear about Southwest still.
