Are most of your parent friends people you knew before you had kids?

DH and I were the first amongst our friends to have kids. Most of our friends are still childless or if they have kids, they live out of state.

Are most of your parent friends old friends who had kids with you?

Or are they new friends that you made after you had kids?

I am beginning to notice that 2yo DS enjoys playing with kids who are in his classes and ones he sees frequently vs children of my friends.

I started thinking about family friends (parents' friends children) vs friends I made on my own. Most all my friends are friends I made in HS, college and grad school. I have like 2-3 family friends that I actually keep in touch with.

It's a mix - I still have some of my formerly close friends, who had kids as well, who are within the general age range of my kids. But I've also found that their preschool has been the best source of new friendships for both them, and DH and I. We've formed a close-knit group of about 10 families from the preschool - we get together almost every week/weekend with and without the kids. The husbands get together once a month for poker night, the girls get together for girl's night out, and we all get together for couple events, and for playdates with the kids.

We don't have any immediate family, so it has been a tremendous resource for us - they really are our surrogate family.

most are friends before we had kids, but we do socialize now with our neighbors who have a son 6 months older than DS. Also, now that Liam is in school, he has some little friends there.

Most of them are friends we knew before. Many of our friends started having kids over the last few years so it's worked out pretty nicely.

Old friends. Only 1 couple has a DD. The rest are childless. We need to make some new parent friends ASAP!

We are the first to have kids, or even get married in all our groups of friends. So all the parent friends I have now I either met through here, from other GTGs, or just from FB. We still see some of our friends without kids, but they still don't get that we need to get to bed early, can't just go out to a club 2 hours before they feel like it...etc etc LOL. Ah well. Wouldn't trade this for the world

Yes. I was the last of most of my friends to have a baby. I think as DS gets older, I will probably make more friends with parents of his friends.
