Re: My friends dont have kids.. soo
Actually this is good timing! If you check out the Christmas posts you can get some good ideas on toys.
What size is she wearing right now?

Re: My friends dont have kids.. soo
I wanted a toy chest & a winter coat for charlie
he also needed some age-appropriate toys
Clothing wise, is she tru to size now? If so I'd get 12mo clothes...rather than 12-18 mo winter stuff if they're gonna be too big.

Re: My friends dont have kids.. soo
as far as clothes, if she's swamped with plenty of winter stuff, you can even suggest to some, to get stuff for next spring/summer. sometimes they wind up getting way too much for one season.

Books Toys(mostly the educational toys) Gift Cards
When people ask I didn't mention clothes because Ella has way too much clothes until she is like 4 years old.

Re: My friends dont have kids.. soo
Clothes are tough. I don't know about Sofia, but Matthew is nowhere near his age size, and by December I'm not sure what he'll be wearing. You can ask for gift cards to your favorite stores also. People usually give gift receipts though, so you may be able to return things if they don't fit or you don't like them.
I think I'm asking people to get him a book, children's music, or maybe a few toys if they ask. Diapers would be wonderful too, though I don't think anyone is going to want to buy them--not very exciting!
So exciting they are almost a year old!

I told them giftcards. She has way too much clothes and toys-- The grandparents are shopaholics. Also I love little people furniture--she has mini me versions of chairs and desks--those are great to pass down.

Re: My friends dont have kids.. soo
If she already has a lot of clothes for the winter, perhaps they can get her stuff for Spring/Summer. As for size, if she's in 12 mos now, I'd say get 12-18 mos.
If not clothes, perhaps educational toys. One Step Ahead has some cute stuff in their catalog.
Gift cards are always a good option.

Re: My friends dont have kids.. soo
My DS is just a little older than your DD. The two things we are getting him for his birthday and Christma sare a wagon and a Step 2 push buggy. I also say books, DS loves them and I rotate the board books around. He loves to read with me or play with them himself.
i find the clothes to be difficult, because my guy has grown out of everything so fast. However, I would love some nice socks and hat/mitten sets for the winter.
the wagon and push buggy:

Re: My friends dont have kids.. soo
These were the hits with my DD at that age:
an Elmo fold out couch (she still uses it as her personal lounge space)
Melissa and Doug puzzles. The easy ones where you put the animal in it's spot and it makes that animal's sound.
Books - "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?" etc..
a push toy
the singing stage
ETA: I should say that she still plays with everything regularly except the push toy has been replaced with a doll stroller.
