Are you conserving energy?

I just realized that i'm in a small room with the lights on, ac pumping, tv on, and the computer on.

Have you been keeping the lights off and trying to conserve energy with all these blackouts?

I have been trying to do that but my wonderful DH is having a hard time doing for whatever reason I do not know. I wish he could think about conserving.

after losing electric last night YES!

A/C is on medium and no lights on in the house

Yes for the last few days... I have all the shades up all day and at a night don't really turn the lights on either... only 1 TV on at a time and 1 AC, and 1 cieling fan to help circulate.

Yes during the day I have been keeping CAC at 79 and keeping all the blinds drawn. I also haven't had the TV on as much and no lights unless necessary. I also post poned doing laundry until Fri - but that is like a gift to myself

I think i'll start with the lights. It's still sunny out so I can just open the blinds.

We have the lights out and as soon as I am done with the computer it will go off...
but we do have the AC running all day on low in our room (for Gizmo) and the fans on in all the other rooms.

we've been trying... we keep the CAC at a higher temp and hsve fans running to make up for it.

I don't have much of a choice. We do it at work, so nothing is on at work. When I was little, everytime I'd leave a room my Mom would shout - "What are we sending LILCO to Florida?" So, I got in the habit of shutting lights off. Right now, I'm sitting in the den, with the lights off, the windows open, the fan on.

We have the lights off, the TV off, but the computer is on.

Unfortunately we tried to put the AC up to 78 or so during the day but our upstairs is always 10 degrees hotter and I don't feel like coming home to a 90 degree bedroom that won't cool down for hours. We leave the AC on 74 durin the day.

We are also out of the house for a long portion of the day so we are not home using other appliances.

We are here and there.
I am not going to do laundry until Fri when the heat is supposed to break.

Watching the lights we use, stuff like that.

No lights are on and we are only using the fan in the living room. I unplugged everything we aren't using - phone chargers, coffee pot,etc.

Trying. No lights on..I just turned the computer room light on. DH has TV on as well. I went around last night and shut kitchen lights, DR lights, and the hall. I think he got the message tonight.

I've been trying not to over do it. All we need is to lose power and I will go nuts.

No lights on in the whole house, 2 a/cs running though.

At work all of the window offices had their lights off. None of us want to walk down 26 flights during a blackout.

Luckily I still know the secret exit to Long Island to the city if LIRR goes caput.

Well, we don't have tv, but when DH isn't home I tend to keep a lot of lights on and the central air has been running for two days straight now.

The lights have been off pretty much all day, but the AC has been blasting non stop. We usually shut the AC in the livingroom off when we go to bed and close our door and blast the AC in the bedroom. I don't want to see the next electric bill!

yes all lights have been off all day/night and I am shutting my computer down when not in use. The AC is on power save at the lowest setting. In fact I may shut if off, its a bearable 85 degrees here now.

I also am waiting til Friday night to run the washer and dryer when there may be less demand.

I have had the lights off but that's it. With the baby I have had the AC's running all day.

we lost power in the middle of the night last week and i woke up in a sweat...since then i still keep all my a/c's on high but i don't turn on the lights till dusk.

I unplugged my toaster oven, microwave, 2 bedroom lamps, 1 den lamp, my stereo and DVD player ... we also lit candles last night instead of having the lights on.
I think I did it more though for my Con Ed bill than anything else
