Re: Are you conserving energy?
I'm not as good as I could be. I don't keep the lights on, but I do pump the AC. I'm 7 months preggo and I have a husky. She and I would both die if it weren't for AC.

Re: Are you conserving energy?
I'm trying to... My apartment doesn't get a lot of natural sunlight though... so if I read, or do other things, I need to keep the lights on.

Re: Are you conserving energy?
We keep the lights off and the shades drawn. the TV isn't on a lot to begin with.

Re: Are you conserving energy?
Isn't it better to keep the shades closed? So the sunlight doesn't get in to heat up the house? Well I was always told to open them in the winter to wamr up the house, so I thought the opposite was true in the summer?
I didn't think to unplug, I will do that now.
I have turned off fans and lights and kept AC above 75.

Re: Are you conserving energy?
We never really have the lights on during the day (try to open the blinds up) and they're on minimally at night. I only use the computer for a couple of hours (DH doesn't use his until after midnight and then is only on for a few hours). Only thing that's really on a lot is the a/c. Most of the time we turn it off in the morning, but not for the past few days.

Yes,keeping the shades closed is better. The sun/light will "heat up the house causing you to need to use more energy.

Re: Are you conserving energy?
Yup - since Tuesday we have unplugged all the lamps and the washing machine. We keep the ACs unplugged during the day when we are out. The shades are all down and curtains drawn during the day too. I did a load of laundry early this morning but didn't let it run through the dryer - put it all up on a rack.
At night we only run one AC in the bedroom and have it on a lower setting.
Hopefully this all let's up soon.
