Are you getting NB size or just 0-3 months only?
I know the newborn size is for 5-8 pounds. I was wondering if I should just buy the next size up.
What are you ladies doing?

I'm trying not to buy too much because of this...though it's hard because there are so many cute clothes out there!  But I'm mostly getting 0-3 months. I've gotten a couple newborn things, but I figure better safe than sorry. Also, according to my friends, the brand impacts the sizing a lot too. This is what one friend said:
Carters runs big
Miniwear runs true to size
Little Me and Fancy Me run small

i have a closet full of clothes for these boys already so we have a pretty good mix .....id say i have more 0-3 then nb but only bc as of now they are measuring on the large sides for twins and im sure they won't fit in the NB for too long....Rob and i 5'11 and 6'4 so these boys wont be little!.....when you register ive heard to make sure you put some 9-12 onesies....even 12 months i have a few sleepers.....otherwise after the shower and birth gifts one day at 9 months you open the closet and its bare...

I got two or three NB outfits and the rest 0-3. I got almost all NB stuff at my shower.

my son was 6lbs, 9oz at birth, and was in his newborn clothing for almost 2 months. the nb size fit him way past the 8lb mark. he was swimming in the 0-3 size.
i would have a few outfits of each size handy. then depending on how big your baby is, you go out and get more stuff in the appropriate size. this way you're not sitting there with a closet full of too big or too small clothing. jmo.

I'm not getting any NB size. My baby is already measuring kinda big and if family history dictates, he will not be born less than 8 lbs.

Honestly, I only bought 1 of those 5-packs of Carter's onsies and one 2-pack of the pants in NB size. That was enough, and she wore NB clothes for about 3 weeks. She was born 7 10 and came home 7 lbs even.

i would get a couple of things in newborn size just in case. my DS was measuring at 8 lbs 12 oz a week before he was born - and he weighed only 7 lbs 10 oz at birth!!
plus, even though he gained weight like a champ, he was still in NB clothes until he was about 8 weeks old (and about 12.5 lbs), because of the way they fit.

Both. I'm just getting a few pieces as I'm not bringing anything into the house until she is born. But I did get a few of both which are in my car. I've asked my family to do the same.

i haven't bought much newborn - most of the women i know haven't had babies born into a newborn size....
we'll commit more once we see how the baby is measuring as we get farther along...(so far we've been fast forwarded 5 days ahead because of the growth)...

I would definately get a few newborn things. DS was 6lbs 8oz and fit into NB clothes for well over a month. The 0-3 month clothes didn't fit him at all when he came home!! I hadn't bought many NB things because I figured 0-3 would be fine, but my mom was out buying NB clothes because he had nothing to wear when he came home!

My Mom has already bought a lot of NB things - I think too many from what I have read on here!
I am only going to wash 1/2 of it in the beginning and possibly exchange the rest for 0-3 months.

DD#2 arrived 10 days ago and weighed in at 8 pounds 7 ounces. She dropped to 7 pounds 5 ounces (maybe even less) when we left the hospital.
On hand I had a pack of NB long sleeve bodysuits, 0-3 month side snap long sleeve t-shirts (NB size would have been better), 2 fleece NB onesies, and 2 NB cotton onesies from DD#1 (she was born when it was warm).
I went out and bought 3 more NB fleece onesies to get me through the next week or two. The 0-3 are too big, but will be worn soon...

I will get some newborn sized clothing. My friend had her daughter in October and was told she was going to be big and she was 8 lbs 10 oz and is still in Newborn clothing. She is 7 weeks old.

Not buying NB... I got enough of it from from the shower and am even thinking of returning them...
Besides, they will only be wearing it for a few weeks, if at all. You can just put 0-3 size clothes on them.

I am waiting until my growth sono to buy clothes. I had to buy preemie with DS, even though "technically" he was larger than the size dictated, he was all legs and nothing fit him!
This baby is measuring almost 2 weeks ahead, so I am waiting to see if we will need to get some new larger clothes for this one to come home in.

I agree with Alexlynn. My DS was 6lbs, 11oz at birth and wore NB WAY past 8lbs. And I am pretty sure wore it until he was about 3.5 months old.
I had to send my parents to BRU when he was a few days old to buy me more stuff!

I have both. The NB is all washed and ready to go. My babies haven't been measuring too big and it is a very good possibility they will be early. I have even contemplated buying some preemie things, but decided if they babies do need preemie size my mom will be able to go out and pick up some stuff before we come home from the hospital.

I agree. My baby was born at 9lbs 10oz and some of the 0-3 is much too big on him. I don't have much NB stuff, but am glad I have a few things.

This was the same situation for us....DS was 6lbs8oz and wore NB size stuff for at least 8 weeks. My mom and sister bought me a few more things after he was born. I only had 1 NB outfit b/c he measured big all along! (and ended up on the smaller side-but he was long - 21 inches)

We have a few NB outfits ready to go, and lots of 0-3 stuff. She was measuring 7lbs. 7oz. last week, and we still have just under two weeks to go, but I'm sure we'll use some of the NB stuff anyway.

im guessing they musta changed the sizes alil since i had my ds (hes 10) when he was born he weighed 10.1 and he NEVER fit in NB, BARELY fit in 0-3 and wore MOSTLY 3-6 the week he came home ...i bought 2 NB outfits, and alot of 0-3 cause i have a feeling shell be alil smaller then my son was, but not by much

just 0-3.(and for christmas am getting some 3-6, 6-9)
my friend has some NB stuff to give me, and i was over 8lb- dh close to 8lbs- i dont see our kid being in it very long if at all.......
