My hospital did not allow us to keep DS overnight for safety issues. They brought him in for feedings.

Just like with my son, he can be with me all day and in the nursery at night. I felt like such crap after the c-section, I couldn't imagine all night. Plus, I wouldn't feel safe while I was sleeping.

The best advice that I ever got was to send the baby to the nursery at night. It is the ONLY time you can do that til they go to collegeChat Icon

Like others said - Wintrop doesn't allow the baby to stay out overnight - and I wouldn't have wanted it anyway. I was so drugged up from the csection - that I could barely get out of bed - nevermind pick up a ten pound baby if he needed me at 3am.

I kept him with me day and night. He slept alot and was really quiet, so it didn't affect my ability to sleep. Although I was way too excited to sleep. I kept getting up and looking at him.

I really recommend keeping baby with you as much as possible -- your taking that kid home, so the more you're used to caring for him night and day the more comfortable you'll be. Also, if you're breastfeeding you'll start to learn his hunger cues while he's with you in the hospital, which will also make things easier.

Could not agree more! You're not really going to sleep form al the excitement (or at least this is me). It's my child I don't feel comfortable giving birth and then them taking her. It's just me and yes it's a total non judgemental persoanl decision. To each's own. Have to do what's best for you.

this is the advice I was given by the women who taught my BF class last night. Although it will be tempting to send DD to the nursery, I think having her in my room all night will help me to feel more comfortable when I leave. Plus, I don't think I will ever get enough sleep in the beginning Chat Icon

I had DD all day, but they would take her to the nursery overnight.

Re: Are you having your baby room in with you in the hospital?

I just had my DS on Friday and had a c-section after many hours of labor. I allowed them to take him at night because I was exhausted at that point and in some pain. It was hard because I was trying bfing all day and at night he would be a little more fussy and I was falling asleep during bfing. Especially the last night I was at the hospital, he stayed in the nursery and in the morning I felt a lot better because I got some sleep.

OMG! I can't believe you have a choice! In the UK, we have our babies with us at all times. The midwives will take the baby if you are struggling, but we have our babies with us all the time.

When I am up, the baby will be with me. When I am sleeping, baby will be in the nursery.
